There they are, two of Jesus' disciples, walking to Emmaus. They had heard that the Lord had risen, but apparently not about meeting Him at Galilee, or did they just decide to give up on Jesus and head to Emmaus. Capernaum/Galilee is about 70 miles north, Emmaus about 10 miles west??? Jesus appeared to them and reminded them of what Scripture said about Him and they decided to head back to the disciples, to the church. Have you given up on Jesus and wandered off? The Bible is full of different banquets, feasts, celebrations. The last part of the Bible is all about the marriage feast of Jesus and the Church. The world, today, really doesn't have anything to celebrate, at least not in closeness and true joy, only in very superficial ways, read Halloween and New Years Day. Worship is celebration! A time to celebrate, to enjoy, to be joyous. When we come together with Christian brothers and sisters how can it not be about joy and celebration? Ever notice when the Enemy mocks Christians it's about mocking the mass, liturgy, genuine worship? The kind we Lutherans have. They don't mock the "happy-clappy" stuff because, and let's be honest, It would be mocking itself. We celebrate and worship God (not ourselves and our entertainment). Don't let the world try to convince you that real worship is 'boring', it's just not! In real worship you will receive true joy, knowing that you have truly been in the presence of the Lord. End Times, the ultimate Thanksgiving at the end of time. This will be from all nations. Can you imagine what God's table is going to look like? Brothers and sisters "And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and will bring them in to their own land." Sheep Led And Protected By The Great Shepherd.WMA

The Tribulation will be a horrible time, the final confrontation between Jesus and the evil of the world. Jesus will triumph! As those who are reborn in Jesus we will be saved to the resurrection because of His death and resurrection. We will see that day of Judgment when Jesus tells us in Matthew that He will put the sheep on His right and goats on HIs left and those on the right He will tell us to come and inherit the Kingdom prepared for us. In the meantime we continue to reach out to those who don't know Jesus, to help them be saved from being a goat, while we wait for that time that He returns. Until then the writer of Hebrews tells us in 10:24- 25, "let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." To a large extent, John's Gospel, is different than the other Gospels, written about 60 years later, Johns Gospel focuses on how Jesus is both completely man and completely God the Son. Johns starts in chapter 1 of his Gospel that the world was created through Jesus. John the Baptist proclaims that Jesus is the "Lamb of God", that John was specially chosen by God the Father to introduce Jesus to the world. There are powerful beings who are servants of God and are charged with watching over us. Michael, the Arch-Angel, is the senior most of the angels. He drove Lucifer out of heaven. Lucifer had decided that instead of serving God and serving man, his creed became: "better to be master of hell then serve in heaven..." The evil of demonic beings is powerful, but for those of us who are in Christ we have power through the Holy Spirit to defend ourselves. We can, and are, harassed, but the Holy Spirit, our angels are around us watching over and protecting us in the faith the Holy Spirit gives us. Pentecost is another of those days on the Christian calendar that kind of gets lost. Yet, it is a very important feast. On this day the Holy Spirit came into Jerusalem with a roar that got everyone out into the streets. That includes Peter and the disciples, who have flames of the Holy Spirit dancing on their heads. This is the birth of Jesus' church. This is where the Holy Spirit empowers Jesus' church, brings people to the church, over 5,000 people, and where it is shown that Jesus pours His blessing and presence on His Church, the Body of Christ. Persecution of God's people go way back into history. Jesus talks about how His prophets were persecuted. He told the leaders of Jerusalem that their fathers persecuted the prophets while they built them tombs. They knew who the prophets were, but persecuted them anyway, then honored them after their deaths. Jeremiah kept telling the kings of Judah to change their ways until King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came and destroyed Jerusalem and exiled many of the people.
