WYCO radio Lightnin' Up programs

Started a new program on WYCO 106.1 radio the lighter side of life. Music, literature, sports, stories. Talking to Dakota Schaefer who is a professional cyclist just starting out in proffessioal cycling. Give a listen as he talks about being on the inside of a bike racing peloton, it ain't gentle! Listen on Thursdays at 9:30am, 5:00 pm and Saturdays at 10am and 4pm. This week will be talking to Peter Bottros, a great young musician who just released his first CD. Mr Domminick Chatman is very active mentoring and coaching young men in the downtown area. A past star of the William Penn High School football team, Domminick went on to Hampton University. After college and career building, Domminick returned to York and established his own business in York. With other men in the community he's established programs such as youth football to help young men to to acquire the skills and knowledge to grow in their own lives and to establish their own worthwhile lives. BJ Walker is a professional wrassler, now other people might say "wrestler", but there's a difference between wrestling with all the rules and formalities and "Wrassling" which is the good-guys vs the bad-guys no holds barred. Haven't figured out which BJ is ;)  Yes this is very late, but it was a great time with BJ and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

A really interesting show, Beccijo talks about a variety of aspects of raising vegetables in an urban environment with her husband and 4 sons and with her home schooling group. Danny Evans is our guest on Lightnin' Up, Danny is talking about the York Police Dept's community police office. The York Police work very hard to pro-actively reach out to the community in a number of ways. There has been a long time bowling league that the police department provides funds and transportation for, other sports and special events, regular weekly times at the Martin Library. There is also the Citizen's Police Academy, the Police Chaplains, National Night out, lots of stuff going on to bring the community and police together for everyone's safety and peace. Vicki Friedman talks to Jim Driskell about her experience not just in care giving, but she also wrote a book that is designed by her (she did the illustrations) and to be an encouragement and a book to keep out for others to see and to also be strengthened during the stress of providing care and attention to another. York has a wide diversity of sports, and when it starts to get to fall, the football season is active here  in York. Really talented foot ball players come together to make up the York Generals football team part of the Philadelphia independent Football League. Jim Driskell talks to co-owners Javan Matthews, Rob Kiker about the teams first season last year, a very successful season, and how they are going to build on last year's success this year. Habitat for Humanity has been building new homes for those who are working, but just can't put together all the money to buy their own home. Tammi Morris has been directing York Habitat for two years and doing great work for the benefit of a lot of people. Jim Driskell talks to Tammi on WYCO radio, Lightnin' Up. We recently lost a great brother here at First Saint Johns, I don't usually do this, but with Keith it seems appropriate. One person I talked to at the service described Keith as a "Levite". The Levites were the ones who maintained the temple in ancient Israel, made sure it was suitably maintained to worship God, that really was Keith's mission here. I pray this is a fitting memorial for Keith and a reminder to those who may not know Jesus and that He does save us to eternal life.
