I heard something on the radio a couple of weeks ago that said because of the current pandemic, people are taking more showers and baths. Whether it is fulfilling the need to stay clean, fulfilling boredom, or fulfilling the just because of things, I side primarily with the claim mentioned on this radio program that bathing provides compensation for the warmth and comfort that people get from being amidst others. 

At the onset of stay at home orders, many states closed off access to public beaches for the Summer. In addition to this, mother made me a very large tote. Now, in the shower, I often think about how nice the day will be once we can all get together (safely) and spend a day swimming at the myriad of beaches that Minnesota has to offer. In my tote, I would bring a fun towel, new tapes that would undoubtedly get wrecked from sand, a book on birds, a water bottle, and maybe some hard seltzer. 

Despite the aforementioned orders being progressively lifted as I am writing, please continue to be smart. Through continued collective diligence with social distancing and taking care of yourselves and others, we’ll all be able to swim together, get sunburnt, make a fire, dance, and ultimately, not take as many showers and baths.

Keep fighting the good fight, stay safe, and I can’t wait to see you all soon :-).
