The beat-juggling dream team that called themselves Suckaside is back on BBP with another slices of timeless head-nodding goodness &ndash; so funky we had to call upon the Kurnel MC to lay on some dope bars and BadboE for remixing duties.
Suckaside aka Sucka Timmy and Dj B-Side has polished off an old classic soul diamond and paired it with and classic funky beat and some smooth basslines. All topped off with the Kurnel MC doing his thing while spitting hot fire on beat.
What else was there to do for the remix but to invite BBP head honcho BadboE to squeeze just a little more funk out of the equation. To do that BadboE had turned the tempo slightly up and adding a classic nu funk arrangement around the soulful elements while giving the Kurnel MC plenty of room to flow.
Both the original and BadboE remix comes in instrumental versions as well of an accapella of Kurnel MC rhymes for the DJ to mix it up&hellip;

BBP are kicking the summer of with the 4th instalment of the Breakin the Riddim series, this time with an array of styles for all.
Jayl Funk kicks it off with &lsquo;Come on Little Girl&rsquo;, getting your head nodding and feet bopping with some lovely subtle vocals, and pure reggae vibes in all, leading perfectly into the next track; &lsquo;Selecta&rsquo;. When BadboE gets his hands on any track, there&rsquo;s no disappointment, and that&rsquo;s the same with this one. Nice heavy sub bass rolling in the back behind some harmonica action and those vocal stabs bringing it all alive, before getting super bouncy. Towlie DJs&rsquo; skills are on top form, with his cheeky remix &lsquo;Limbs&rsquo;. Getting uo tempo, and proper bouncy, thus is bound to be included in those summer festival sets. Time to get &lsquo;Step Step Step&rsquo; stepping with DJ Clairvo! Now a little change in style, getting some heavy beats, a big bad bass, and vocals getting you stomping the night away.
Finishing of, we have a rising star of the glitch breaks scene. Funkinright brings you &lsquo;High Yo&rsquo;, at track with one intention, and that&rsquo;s to bring that party to the next level. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin’s debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ is steeped in the bass-heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks, and surf-rock cool. The Texan trio is formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums.

‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ was recorded at their spiritual home, a remote barn deep in the Texas countryside where their first rehearsals took place. The band listened to a lot of different types of music on the long drives out to the country but their favourites were the '60s and '70s Thai cassettes gleaned from the cult Monrakplengthai blog and compilations of southeast Asian pop, rock, and funk. This had a heavy impact on the direction of the band, the scales they used, and the inflection of the melodies; which coupled with the spaciousness of the Texan countryside culminated in Khruangbin forming their exotic, individual sound. 

“We feel like there is an ease that comes from being immersed in a space, away from the distractions of the city and everyday life. We make our music in a barn, in the Texas hill country, because it makes sense to us. Being there allows us to make music that comes naturally, and that’s what we wanted this album to be. We wanted to make a record that just let the music happen, and we hope that’s what you can hear.”

Jimi Needles' musical roots are in hip hop, soul, funk, and disco, but on the turntables he combines pin-point scratching, intricate cuts, breaks, and bass music to craft a unique and high-energy sound that spans genres and keeps the crowd moving! His dynamic sets always pay homage to old-school classics while blending modern sounds, ensuring every performance is one-of-a-kind.

Known for his genre-defying party mixtapes, deck-defying festival performances, and an array of bootlegs and original productions on labels like Swing & Bass, Thick Boy Records, and Jungle Strikes, Jimi has built a reputation as both a skilled turntablist and an innovative producer.

In November 2024, he released his debut album, ''Ample Clearance'', a self-produced project that showcases his versatility as an artist, as a writer, a DJ and a producer. Jimi is also one of the tour DJs for the Symphonica Orchestra, adding his super-tight skills to their live and electric renditions of club classic dance hits.
