The wonderful Subcora aka Pinar Öztop has put together an exquisite mix for us to soak in on this November Tuesday. Originally from Istanbul but now residing in Plymouth, she loves all music in all its formats and therefore it was without hesitation we asked her if she could come up with a sunset mix. Her gentle transitions and excellent song choice brings us straight into her sunset mood. It is by no mistake that she has produced sets for podcasts such as Deepist and has received the feedback she deserves for the mix tapes published on her own soundcloud page. Highly recommended to browse her page and follow her next steps. Always positive, eager to discover and share musical gems with everyone, it is an absolute pleasure to share this mix with the sunset grooves community.

Auch diese Woche hab ich wieder Sonne und Harmonie im Gepäck. Florian Rietze ist gerade auf einem langen Asien-Trip unterwegs und schickt uns seinen musikalischen Reisebericht aus dem Norden Thailands.
 
Florian begleitet mich auf soundcloud schon fast von Anfang an. Immer wieder überzeugt der gebürtige Potsdamer mit seinen grandiosen und stimmigen Produktionen und Remixen, unteranderem für Steyoyoke, Délicieuse Musique, URSL oder meine Freunde von Amselcom. 

Musik war ihm quasi schon in die Wiege gelegt … und man merkt sofort, dass er ein Vollblut-Musiker ist. Seine Mixe überzeugen immer durch Raffinesse, Tempowechsel und diese einzigartige Fähigkeit Geschichten zu erzählen. Auch dieser Mix hat mal wieder alle meine Erwartungen übertroffen, von Anfang bis Ende Harmonie PUR.

Interview:

How and when did you get into electronic music? 

I got into electronic music at an early age because of my brother Johan & Sister Jenny. Trough the years i have gone trough the most electronic genres. As long as it`s good music i don`t care about genre :)

Which musical moments have been espescially memorable to you? 

It`s must be the first early morning i started producing , December 2012. Still remember it very clear that i know i was hooked :) Since then it`s been a daily routine.

Which plans do you have for the future?

My plan is to improve myself ,my sound and my knowledge of music and other stuff in general. I always compete against myself and i always want to improve me as a person and my music.

If you could choose to play at any venue in the world, which place would it be?
 
I see myself as 90 % Producer and / 10 % DJ :) Im still in the early stages of my DJ career i think so ask me again in a year or two i might have an answer :) . I think i need to DJ to improve me as a producer so i will combine the two and see what i can make of it :). To me music is an essential thing , and to be able to make music brings me a lot of joy and makes me feel good :)

Every year on the Playa brings new lessons. Some are complex, some are simple reminders. For the two of us this past year, the message was "back to basics." As hyper-analytical DJs, we're prone to focusing on performance from a critical viewpoint: did we gauge the energy level correctly, were our transitions dialed in? But this year, playing after the sunrise on Friday, seeing so many friends and campmates out for a morning dance reminded that the point of all this is a simple one: coming together and sharing moments of joy. A wonderful and welcome wake-up call. Thanks to Robot Heart for setting the stage!
