Although Guy Williams didn't do very well during the first season of Taskmaster NZ, and failed to become "The People's Champion" that he'd so desperately declare himself most episodes, he did have at least one moment of absolute and unobjectionable genius. With the help of a less-than-enthusiastic Paul Williams, Guy debuted his new Libyan National Anthem during the second episode of the series, after throwing a dart at a map from point blank range. Nobody could have predicted what would happen next - utilising simple, repetitive melodies and some out of time clapping, the Brothers Williams created a masterpiece. Though legend has it that Guy originally wrote an epic ballad that celebrated Libya for over 5 minutes, the version that aired left much to be desired. So, using nothing but some basic musical knowledge and a red hot passion for the original work, I have bolstered the haunting vocals and ethereal piano motif to create something that should probably never have been made in the first place, but in the words of the songwriter himself: “Pretty rousing though, eh?“
