After a busy year of five releases in 2012, Cinematic is already back to it in 2013 with the fourth release by label debutant Florian Muller. Alongside the burgeoning Frenchmans original contributions sit some heavyweight remixes, namely from wildly idiosyncratic Mathematics label boss Hieroglyphic Being and Reference, aka Detroit dub-smith Luke Hess and Brian Kage. Mullers first contribution You demonstrates a predilection for dubby deepness and polished production. 
Infectious claps and almost subliminal kicks power along the groove as ambient synth soundscapes drift above and a lone cry of You injects some very real emotion. The remix from Reference kicks much harder and faster, as you might expect, but is just as doused in dub richness. This time the synths are sharper and louder in the mix as tumultuous percussion grows in stature. A lush and classicist string breakdown is dramatic and epic in all the right ways and simply screams to be played loud. 
Mullers other contribution is Mobius Dub, a deep and dark experimental track that buries synthetic sounds, marching drums and the sound of a discordant orchestra well down below the surface. Paranoid and gnarly, the choice of remixer in Hieroglyphic Being couldnt be more apt. The Chicagoan injects yet more nervy and obscured instrumental squiggles into the heart of the track and allows the pulsing kicks to roam free below. Its occult and mysterious like all the mans music and closes out a diverse EP.

‘Be’ remix is provided by deep house stalwart, ‘Atjazz’ and South African production prodigy ‘Jullian Gomes’ – a pair who frequently team up for in-studio experimentation and artistry. Cloaked in a steady groove, their remix bubbles with warmth and charm. Driving drums are layered with sun-baked chords before Zaki’s celestial vocals cast their spell. Infectiously spirited and intense, this mix will find itself at home on deeper dancefloors.

Jimpster: The UK House craftsman shaping soundscapes with soul and subtlety

If you’ve ever lost yourself in the smooth, rolling rhythms of deep house, you’ve probably had Jimpster to thank without even knowing it.  Behind the decks, in the studio, or even just in the groove of his own life, Jimpster—aka Jamie Odell—is one of the quiet yet crucial architects of the genre, a producer who’s somehow managed to keep his sound fresh while paying homage to house music’s roots.  With releases stretching back to the early 90's, Jimpster’s sonic journey has evolved from the cut n paste, sample-heavy bedroom productions of his early releases to the deep house anthems he’s known for today.  He’s the artist who’s mastered the art of organic warmth, blending digital precision with analog textures in ways that sound both timeless and ahead of their time.  His music often draws from a deep well of influences: jazz, funk, soul, electro and even ambient textures—but it’s always tethered to the dancefloor.  He’s the kind of producer who can make a sub-bass rumble feel like a heartbeat while surrounding it with lush, atmospheric synths and intricate percussion that push his tracks into a hypnotic, almost meditative space.

Jimpster's discography is packed with both original tracks and remixes that make you move without even realising it: there’s the spaced-out, trippy disco allure of “English Rose”, the groove-heavy slo-mo swagger of “The Sun Comes Up” (which is basically the soundtrack to *that* sunset), and let’s not forget the timeless “Dangly Panther.”  Each track feels like a wave—a smooth ride that pulls you along effortlessly but leaves you wanting more.  His remix of Osunlade’s Momma’s Groove has become iconic but he has also offered his golden touch to artists as diverse as Seal, Bob Marley, Kerri Chandler, Josh Wink and Adam Port to name just a few.

But Jimpster’s influence doesn’t just stay in the studio.  As a DJ, his sets are like a carefully curated journey, blending stripped back disco, underground house and the more soulful end of techno into smooth, liquid transitions that captivate without ever feeling rushed.  Whether he’s playing an intimate, low-key club night or a larger festival stage, his mixes retain a sense of control—an ability to weave a narrative out of tempo, tone and texture, always keeping the dancefloor locked in.  From Panorama Bar (Berlin) to Cielo (NYC), Womb (Tokyo) to Fabric (London), Jimpster has pretty much span there and returned with the T shirt.

As co-founder and A&R of Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur and most recently Cyphon Recordings, he’s helped nurture an entire generation of producers, sharing his deep understanding of groove and sound design with those who came after him.  Despite his three decades in the business and pivotal role in shaping the electronic music landscape, Jimpster remains relentlessly focused on who, or what, will come next, as excited as ever by discovering the freshest new talent and sounds to expose to the world.
