Haushausen are the brothers André and Mirko Scheel plus whoever is present at the studio when they are coming in to do a session. Born and bred in Berlin, they have been making music together for about twenty years now besides their regular jobs. Mirko works as a TV and Movie Editor and used to play Drum ’n Bass and Hip Hop records, André works for a high end mixing desk company and just started to create useful things as a freelance. They also share the studio space with Dub Taylor aka Tigerskin.
 
In the past they’ve been creative just for the fun of it whenever they had time besides work and family and without any serious intention to ever release their music to the public. That changed in 2018, when Dub Taylor put two sessions they’ve had together onto his ‚Caves and Cages‘ album on Dirt Crew Recordings. Since then they’ve developed the plan to finish and release a few of the Haushausen recordings to do an Ep or even better: an album. There was so much material recorded over the past years that it was not easy to decide which tunes to start with.
 
Usually André plays several Synthesizers, Pianos and Organs and builds beats and Mirko plays Drums, Percussion, Bass, Guitars, Synthesizers and builds Beats too. All that might get mixed up when someone comes to the session with a broken flute, a „Reggae Drums for Beginners’ book, a melodica or a self-build cuica. In our selection, besides Mirko, André and Dub Taylor, there’s Jan Gabler (aka PsychoPlasma, D-Mark, Slinky Wire), who was present on synthesizers in the piece ‚Erdschein‘. He was also a helping hand in the process of developing the album.
 
The guys share a love for Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Trip Hop and Dub Music. It’s no surprise that except ‚Im Boot‘ and ‚Wrong Side Up‘ all the other tracks share that classic Caribbean, uplifting two-tone feel and have a moody, rather chilled out dub atmosphere. Since the guys never take themselves too serious both in the question what should come out of it in the end and how far their perfection goes, the tracks breathe a lot from the freedom to be imperfect, a freedom that most artists lose on their way to professionalism.
 
We’re happy and proud we finally can steal half an hour of your lifetime with these eight beautiful Space Dub pieces of the Haushausen debut album and hope you’ll like it as much as we do.

Jimpster: The UK House craftsman shaping soundscapes with soul and subtlety

If you’ve ever lost yourself in the smooth, rolling rhythms of deep house, you’ve probably had Jimpster to thank without even knowing it.  Behind the decks, in the studio, or even just in the groove of his own life, Jimpster—aka Jamie Odell—is one of the quiet yet crucial architects of the genre, a producer who’s somehow managed to keep his sound fresh while paying homage to house music’s roots.  With releases stretching back to the early 90's, Jimpster’s sonic journey has evolved from the cut n paste, sample-heavy bedroom productions of his early releases to the deep house anthems he’s known for today.  He’s the artist who’s mastered the art of organic warmth, blending digital precision with analog textures in ways that sound both timeless and ahead of their time.  His music often draws from a deep well of influences: jazz, funk, soul, electro and even ambient textures—but it’s always tethered to the dancefloor.  He’s the kind of producer who can make a sub-bass rumble feel like a heartbeat while surrounding it with lush, atmospheric synths and intricate percussion that push his tracks into a hypnotic, almost meditative space.

Jimpster's discography is packed with both original tracks and remixes that make you move without even realising it: there’s the spaced-out, trippy disco allure of “English Rose”, the groove-heavy slo-mo swagger of “The Sun Comes Up” (which is basically the soundtrack to *that* sunset), and let’s not forget the timeless “Dangly Panther.”  Each track feels like a wave—a smooth ride that pulls you along effortlessly but leaves you wanting more.  His remix of Osunlade’s Momma’s Groove has become iconic but he has also offered his golden touch to artists as diverse as Seal, Bob Marley, Kerri Chandler, Josh Wink and Adam Port to name just a few.

But Jimpster’s influence doesn’t just stay in the studio.  As a DJ, his sets are like a carefully curated journey, blending stripped back disco, underground house and the more soulful end of techno into smooth, liquid transitions that captivate without ever feeling rushed.  Whether he’s playing an intimate, low-key club night or a larger festival stage, his mixes retain a sense of control—an ability to weave a narrative out of tempo, tone and texture, always keeping the dancefloor locked in.  From Panorama Bar (Berlin) to Cielo (NYC), Womb (Tokyo) to Fabric (London), Jimpster has pretty much span there and returned with the T shirt.

As co-founder and A&R of Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur and most recently Cyphon Recordings, he’s helped nurture an entire generation of producers, sharing his deep understanding of groove and sound design with those who came after him.  Despite his three decades in the business and pivotal role in shaping the electronic music landscape, Jimpster remains relentlessly focused on who, or what, will come next, as excited as ever by discovering the freshest new talent and sounds to expose to the world.
