DJ Name: Father Dukes
Backstory: Father Dukes was a nickname from my old coworkers (shoutout to my copywriter homies from GreaterGood!) They meant this in the way of a Church Father / Priest and jokingly called me this for being a supportive, trusted and knowledgable coworker confidant with all of the office tea haha They said I had all of the office confessions which I did lol one day I decided to change my DJ name to that and it just stuck!

About this mix.
With this mix I gave a nod to a Chicago-famous elements of production and Chicago producers. There is a really conversational flow with Detroit and Chicago electronic music from the pioneering days to the contemporary time and this is a pairing I wanted to celebrate with this mix. You won’t hear much Detroit based stuff in here and there are a few talents from other locations sprinkled in, but I am just recording from the 313 and mostly just celebrating our neighbors down 94W :) 


Any gimmicks, superstitions, or good luck rituals?
Not really but I can always count on the fact that I will have to nervous pee 1892744 times before performing in person


Music hot take?
I saw a funny tee shirt online the other week that said “Hating pop music doesn’t make you deep” and I just really wholeheartedly agreed with that because I love pop music so much and always will no matter how out there my tastes continue to evolve

Jimpster: The UK House craftsman shaping soundscapes with soul and subtlety

If you’ve ever lost yourself in the smooth, rolling rhythms of deep house, you’ve probably had Jimpster to thank without even knowing it.  Behind the decks, in the studio, or even just in the groove of his own life, Jimpster—aka Jamie Odell—is one of the quiet yet crucial architects of the genre, a producer who’s somehow managed to keep his sound fresh while paying homage to house music’s roots.  With releases stretching back to the early 90's, Jimpster’s sonic journey has evolved from the cut n paste, sample-heavy bedroom productions of his early releases to the deep house anthems he’s known for today.  He’s the artist who’s mastered the art of organic warmth, blending digital precision with analog textures in ways that sound both timeless and ahead of their time.  His music often draws from a deep well of influences: jazz, funk, soul, electro and even ambient textures—but it’s always tethered to the dancefloor.  He’s the kind of producer who can make a sub-bass rumble feel like a heartbeat while surrounding it with lush, atmospheric synths and intricate percussion that push his tracks into a hypnotic, almost meditative space.

Jimpster's discography is packed with both original tracks and remixes that make you move without even realising it: there’s the spaced-out, trippy disco allure of “English Rose”, the groove-heavy slo-mo swagger of “The Sun Comes Up” (which is basically the soundtrack to *that* sunset), and let’s not forget the timeless “Dangly Panther.”  Each track feels like a wave—a smooth ride that pulls you along effortlessly but leaves you wanting more. As a DJ, his sets are like a carefully curated journey, blending stripped back disco, underground house and the more soulful end of techno into smooth, liquid transitions that captivate without ever feeling rushed. As co-founder and A&R of Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur and most recently Cyphon Recordings, he’s helped nurture an entire generation of producers, sharing his deep understanding of groove and sound design with those who came after him.
