Man when I see graffiti on walls it makes me laugh, it takes me back to when my amazing mum & dad agreed to a crazy idea that I had when I was a young whipper snapper. Me and my brother used to collect all the flyers from the raves and cover all the walls in our bedrooms including the door and the celling... everyone we grew up with used to decorate their room like this but me and my bro went over the top with the whole thing and we had no space on our walls for any more. My dad was about to start building me a dj booth for the arrival of my new technics and I also had stolen the big coca cola sign for the front of the booth. I washed many cars and mowed endless lawns for these turntables. Anyway I asked my folks.. if I take down all the flyers could I spray paint my room with some really cool graffiti art (holy fuck ART 😭) Every one used to come round my house. It was for sure the hang out spot in the neighbourhood and we would be smoking pot out the window and sneaking beer and mad dog 20/20 🤭 while listening to dj mixes and making our own record & pause mixes on the cassette player 😭 Anyway my folks let me get some paint and holy fuck me and my mates got to it, smoking and spraying the fuck out of the place but after a few minutes we had to get the hell out. I couldn’t even see any one stood beside me the cloud of smoke/paint was so thick. I for sure couldn’t stay in the room for days... the fumes was crazy- there was like 10 of us spraying. So when I stop to look at these graffitis I always think.. that’s how I wanted my wee room to look. You couldn’t smoke enough pot to make my bedroom look anything like this- it was pure carnage but my mum and dad went all out for me. They backed me from the word “GO” on the DJing. I remember the first songs I ever mixed. My big bro sat on the bed enduring my first painful attempts at mixing then BAM💥 there it was Hannah Jones - Young hearts run free (way out west heavenly vocal mix) INTO Hannah Jones- Young Hearts Run Free (Loveland’s Dub mix) HUGE TUNES. In 1993, Jimpy emerged as one of the original resident DJs of the iconic Hippo Club, widely regarded as one of the most memorable and dynamic clubs in Wales. Throughout his residency, Jimpy shared the stage with legendary DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, Sven Väth, Sister Bliss, John Kelly, Laurent Garnier, and many more. His talents also made him a regular fixture at Timeflies in Cardiff, one of the UK's longest-running club brands.

Following his success in Wales, Jimpy embarked on a global DJing journey, performing at esteemed clubs worldwide. In 1997, he demonstrated his mixing prowess by securing second place in the UK Ministry of Sound mixing championship, a notable achievement during the vinyl era. By 2000, Jimpy was recognised as one of the top DJs globally, ranking 54th in DJ Magazine's Top 100.

In the same year, Jimpy launched his own successful weekly club nights, including "Enter the Dragon" at Vision 2K alongside Paul Oakenfold and later the renowned ROAR. His dynamic sets have graced some of the most prestigious clubs and tours, including Slinky, Cream, Back to Basics, Renaissance, Miss Moneypenny’s, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Good Greef, The Escape Club, Naughty But Nice, Republica @ Bakers, Labyrinth in Zurich, Queens in Hong Kong, Watapalava tour in the USA, Club Quality in Helsinki, Club SOI in Northern Ireland, The Government in Toronto, and Zouk in Singapore.


After an eight-year hiatus from the music scene to focus on his software development company, Jimpy co-launched Cellar Door in Cardiff. These underground raves, hosted inside an old bank vault, became a sensation, consistently filling the venue with local DJ talent from South Wales and ran until 2019.

In 2023, Jimpy orchestrated a highly successful Enter the Dragon reunion, attracting over 1,000 attendees. He delivered a memorable 2-hour 30-minute trance classics set on vinyl alongside Mauro Picotto and Fergie. Building on this success, 2024 will see Enter the Dragon return, featuring talents such as Giuseppe Ottaviani, Factor B, Rob Tissera, Lisa Pin-Up, and more at District Nightclub.

Jimpy also reignited his music production career in 2022/23, releasing a three-track EP with Shodan Records. In 2024, his track "Real DJs" will be released on Rhythm Cult, featuring remixes by Aubrey Fry and Pico Boulevard, showcasing the talents of South Wales. The track has already garnered support from industry heavyweights including Hernan Cattaneo and Anthony Pappa, with a release slated for the end of summer.
Additionally, Jimpy is working on a joint album project with the remarkable Aubrey Fry, known for his features on John Digweeds Bedrock and Sasha's Last Night on Earth, promising to deliver another groundbreaking contribution to the electronic music scene.
