So, how long until someone makes a 'Grandma Nintendo' twitter account?

First, no SE would not been so apathetic about it; they would've been "Unreal 4 is better. Use it!" Followed by the studio team lead bowing repeatedly with "Yes sir!" hiding all sign of reluctance. Secondly, porting work from UE3 to UE4 is not hard. Graphical assets are fairly ubiquitous, but would require a lot of touching up for the enhanced detail the engine is capable of rendering. Lastly, I have every doubt in my mind that the studio team lead didn't want this conversion. Any artist worth a damn would want the BEST for their art, and may have been trying to nudge SE into giving the order to change engines. Frankly though, we went through the entire life-span of the PS3 without a KH3 since KH2 launched on the PS2. That's over a decade. The ending of KH2 was an obvious lead into a sequel. It's been too long, and I'm genuinely annoyed they've made us wait this long. Delays? Sure, don't launch it until it's ready. But this is outright procrastination.

I can say this as a former development studio intern and mod developer: It's not the engine, the critics, or the youtubers; it's the developer and their art. If the developer doesn't have the fucking stones to make something that they are proud of, and can sell itself regardless of the engine it's using, then they have no place calling themselves developers. If they would rather blame the media then they are blaming their customers and their market. Is their a stigma against Unity games? Yes, but it's a vocal minority at best. Most sensible, reasonable customers would sooner not buy the game for these petulant blame-game tactics than what engine the game uses! These wannabes do not deserve patronage for their "art" if this is how they defend it; it should be able to defend itself or it's shit!

More than 1 currency in a game isn't a bad thing if its done right. FFXIV does it pretty well. It also prevents players from playing 1 type of content to unlock something from another type of content. Take for example Wolf marks is pvp currency in FFXIV. Its used for pvp cosmetic gear. (not everyone likes pvp while some do)If you want pvp cosmetic gear you need to play pvp. It is to encourage(or force) people to play pvp for different rewards. If you could just play pve/etc to unlock pvp/etc gear people may not even pvp and instead do whats the fastest way to unlock something. What happens if there is a new expansion? Should someone not even bother to play the new content to unlock the new gear if they could just unlock the same new gear in older content. Sometimes you need restrictions when there is tons of content or else the playerbase may be divided so badly among so many different types of content(dungeons). I get your point Jim but only if its done badly is it annoying imo
