We have always loved performing this song every Christmas. This is a recording we made way back in 2006.

We always loved performing this beautiful Ralph McTell song. This was recorded live at the Foggy Furze Folk club on 7th August 2007.

few things you need to know about this song...…firstly its probably the most depressing song....ever. but incredibly beautiful at the same time i urge everyone to listen to the original and notice how ridiculously good it is in comparison to my cover haha there wasn't actually an instrumental for this so i cut and edited bits of the original but i think it just about did the job ENJOY!

We ran Ashington Folk Club from 2004 till end of 2007 and one of the performers there was a lovely lady called Esther Marshall. Sadly, in 2006, Esther took her own life and Jimmy and I were very saddened by this. 

Esther had the most delicate touch on the guitar and beautiful voice and in memory of her we wrote this song at that time. Here it is recorded by Jimmy(a song never performed by jiva).

jiva - a gentle blend of acoustic guitars and vocal harmony...

jiva have established a solid reputation as well respected singer/songwriters in the acoustic music scene, playing at folk clubs, concert venues, festivals, corporate and social functions, radio appearances, house concerts, fundraisers, coffee mornings etc (with our own state of the art Bose L1 sound system - or AER acoustic amp setup for small intimate venues -  if required)... or even a 'house concert' in your front room!

In addition to self-penned material they perform their own unique interpretations of carefully chosen songs by other writers.
 
Jimmy (the 'ji') & Val (the 'va') both play 6 and 12 string Taylor guitars and Kala ukuleles and both sing. The combination of vocal harmony complemented by contrasting playing styles makes for a gentle and relaxed performance with inbuilt singability and the occasional touch of humour.
