All things inspirational and influential - the records which have shaped their sound as a producer or selection as a DJ.

This week London-based DJ duo @jivetalkdjs step up to the decks, for a mix of wicked House and Breaks, old and new. Let this tide you over until you can get back in da club!

Welcome everyone to 2022... another fantastic year of guest mixes awaits us, and we kick off in style with London based duo, Jive Talk. Since forming, the two friends (Jonny & Sam) have played an impressive array of the UK’s best parties and festivals, as well as hosting their own ‘Jive Talk & Friends’ stage takeovers at the much loved Noisily and Gottwood Festivals, the latter for which they're now official residents. 
Over the last 3 years they’ve released a fine array of wax on the likes of Gottwax, Tropical Disco Records, Semi Delicious, Midnight People, and Saint Wax, to name a few...  as well as their own imprint, Not For You. 
Their releases mirror their eclectic DJ style – covering a range of sounds and influences. Expect to see much more from this fruity twosome over the coming year with plenty of exciting gigs and releases on the horizon.

BOA VIDA always means the sounds of 80's to me so this mix is a big nod to beautiful sounds and story telling of the 80's with a hint of early 90s too. 

BOA VIDA translates to GOOD life and thats exactly what I've found in Lisboa, moving here was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my whole life . A city I really love and big thank you to all the Portuguese who have looked after me and welcomed me and not made fun of my awful butchering of the language xx

My favourite era of music is the 1980s. So for this mix I have put together a selection of records that remind me of the musical colours from my upbringing, ranging from pachanga, Latin new wave, Afro synth pop & other warm rhythms, including some taken from my parent’s own collection :)

Une mixtape à l'image du film "La Belle Époque" qui mêle nostalgie musicale des années 70s - 80s et modernité. 👩‍🦰👵.🧑‍👴

Synopsis: 

Victor, un sexagénaire désabusé, voit sa vie bouleversée le jour où Antoine, un brillant entrepreneur, lui propose une attraction d'un genre nouveau : mélangeant artifices théâtraux et reconstitution historique, cette entreprise propose à ses clients de replonger dans l'époque de leur choix. Victor choisit alors de revivre la semaine la plus marquante de sa vie : celle où, 40 ans plus tôt, il rencontra le grand amour.
