Samo Genius, popularly known as Samo G, is a Brooklyn MC. The gifted lyrist and producer has spent over ten years honing his unique musical style. This is a particularly challenging task growing up on the unforgiving streets of Brooklyn, NY. However, the maturity of Samo G’s music and the overwhelming response worldwide has encouraged the artist to keep releasing more of his culturally synthesized work. Samo G comments, “My music is a natural fusion of Hip Hop/R & B with Dancehall/Reggae and then mi sprinkle some Jazz sounds on it.” Samo G has released two mixtapes, “Ridaz Muzik” and “Street Therapy,” which created a massive wave across the streets of urban America and the West Indies. The talented songwriter is also getting buzz in places like Japan, UK and Australia. Fully focused and up in arms with his third mixtape titled “Street Therapy II,” Samo G is determined to take his brand, a unique blend of modern sounds with cinematic word play, to the masses and represent a forgotten demographic.

Samo G caught the music bug growing up around his older brothers, who are promoters and artists in the reggae music industry. He was about nine years old and had to hold a microphone with both hands when he wrote and performed his first song. For years to come, he made his name as the kid with the very abrasive storytelling delivery by many in his West Indian community. He performed as a featured act in many of the talent shows in the city and was a fan favorite. His music was like a breath of fresh air to those who heard it. Fans as well as local industry professionals agreed his music was very good, but it did not fit any format. Many people said he was ahead of his time. Creatively Samo G was moving in a direction that no one around him understood. Without industry support, he lost a lot of interest in music and focused more on what he had happening on the streets. 
Unable to calm the music growing inside, the artist still found time for the studio.

These days Samo G is writing and producing songs for other artists. He has educated himself on the production and business aspects of the music industry. This knowledge and the buzzing fan base have given him all the fuel he needs to take his music directly to his fans. “People have supported me globally. People link me from places in Africa, Europe, and Asia saying my music feels real and honest to them. From Toronto all the way to Texas a nuff people a listen. So I just try my best to market and sell my music to the one’s that appreciate it the way it is. Right now there are two promotional mixtapes available online for free downloads at sites like Youtube, Soundcloud and datpiff, etc. Fans can buy my official singles on Itunes, Spotifly and Amazon. We are releasing another promotional mixtape along with two commercial singles this summer. I also have a ten city promo tour planed for the fall.
