In the realm of dark ethereal medieval nightmares, where ancient powers intertwine with sinister entities, lies the mystical world before "Savoirs Gate." This medieval fantasy horror film delves into the sinister depths of an otherworldly gateway, where a small village becomes the battleground between good and evil.

"Savoirs Gate" was composed using acoustic instruments, field recordings, modular synthesizers, and sequencers, sets the tone for this atmospheric and chilling journey. The music reflects the blend of medieval aesthetics and haunting horror, immersing listeners in the haunting landscapes and palpable tension of the film.

The soundtrack opens with, “Strega” a foreboding and enigmatic composition that captures the eerie allure of the gate. It combines the raw power of modular synthesizers with the ethereal beauty of a solo cello, creating a haunting melody that echoes through the night.

“Broken Spell” embodies the inquisitive and confusing moments after our protagonist awakes. Overcome with visions of a foreboding mysterious landscape, our protagonist dream is scored by a siren song that begins our heroes journey into the underworld where the duality of light and darkness, hope and despair, and the thin line between them, immerses the listener through a melodic maze towards Gate.

As the story progresses, the music evolves to mirror the various facets of the film's narrative. “Safe Passage” incorporates field recordings, interwoven with delicate acoustic guitar melodies, evoking the mysterious and treacherous forests surrounding the path to the Gate.

The film's climactic battle scene is accompanied by “Seventh Seal” an intense composition driven by a hypnotic bass line, polyrhythmic melody, and angelic strings.

Throughout the soundtrack, recurring motifs and musical themes tie together the disparate elements of the story, creating a sense of continuity and cohesion. The melodies, harmonies, and rhythms reflect the duality of light and darkness, hope and despair, and the thin line between them.

"Saviors Gate" merges medieval sensibilities with modern musical techniques, resulting in a haunting and immersive sonic experience. It underscores the film's supernatural themes, the struggles of its characters, and the pervasive sense of dread that permeates the story. Composed of acoustic instruments, field recordings, modular synthesizers, and sequencers, the soundtrack transports listeners to a realm where the veil between worlds is thin, and the forces of evil that lie in the path to the Gate.

Saviors Gate

In 2023, I spent some time living in the Arctic Circle off the northern coast of Norway. Living in isolation on a island no more then 2km in radius, I spend my days collecting field recordings, composing new music, taking photographs, reading and writing. The purpose of the project was to capture images and sounds of the landscape to create a audio/visual experience that transforms the viewer/listener on their own meditative journey inward.

Upon my return, I shared my images and field recordings with Dutch DJ, Producer and a label owner Rambadu to interpret my work and create a rework of 'Solar Image' titled 'Solar Image (Rambadu Thermohaline Circulation)' referring to the natural process when sea ice forms in the polar regions, leaving behind salt that makes the surrounding water saltier and denser. This denser water sinks, creating a current that moves slowly through the ocean. Thermohaline circulation (THC) is a large-scale ocean current system that moves water and heat, and is a vital part of the global carbon dioxide and nutrient cycles.

Two years have now passed. I reflect on my experiences daily with a sense of bittersweet peace. These eight tracks are a diary of my time there and the memories of a beautiful way of life.

In recent years, he has researched the energetic powers and healing properties of sound, diving deep into the literature to better understand our inner and outer worlds.

Singing bowls, percussion, and various acoustic instruments are blended with hardware devices while modulating field recordings to create a sensual dance, taking you further into the sonic realms."

Anemoia | nostalgia for a time you never experienced

"Looking at old photos, it's hard not to feel a kind of wander-lust. A pang of nostalgia, for an era you never lived through. Longing to step through the frame into a world of black and white, if only to sit on the side of the road and watch the locals passing by.

These are people who lived and died before any of us arrived here. Who sleep in some of the same houses we do, and look up at the same moon. Who breathe the same air, feel the same blood in their veins--and live in a completely different world.

You'd watch as they carry on with their lives, that seem so important. Trying to read their faces, or look into their eyes so piercing and otherworldly, their gaze fixed elsewhere. They have no way of knowing that their story has already been written. If only they could look around the way you could they could relax and soak in the atmosphere of the moment.

Of course, to them, it wasn't all flickering silence and grainy black-and-white. They saw vivid color rushing by in three dimensions, heard voices in deafening stereo, confronted smells they couldn't escape. For them, nothing was ever simple. None of them knew for sure what this era meant, or that it was even an era to begin with. At the time, their world was real. Nothing was finished, and nothing was guaranteed.

That world is now gone. If the past is a foreign country, we're only tourists. We can't expect to understand the locals or why they do what they do. We can only ask them to hold still so we can capture a photo to take home with us. So we can pretend to ourselves that we've learned anything at all about who they were, and what it was like to live in another time.

The photo itself means very little, in the end. Maybe all we ever wanted was the frame. So we could sit for a few minutes in a world of black-and-white, with clean borders that protect us from the rush of time. Like a tide pool just out of the reach of the waves-so clear and still, you can see your own reflection."
