In the realm of dark ethereal medieval nightmares, where ancient powers intertwine with sinister entities, lies the mystical world before "Savoirs Gate." This medieval fantasy horror film delves into the sinister depths of an otherworldly gateway, where a small village becomes the battleground between good and evil.

"Savoirs Gate" was composed using acoustic instruments, field recordings, modular synthesizers, and sequencers, sets the tone for this atmospheric and chilling journey. The music reflects the blend of medieval aesthetics and haunting horror, immersing listeners in the haunting landscapes and palpable tension of the film.

The soundtrack opens with, “Strega” a foreboding and enigmatic composition that captures the eerie allure of the gate. It combines the raw power of modular synthesizers with the ethereal beauty of a solo cello, creating a haunting melody that echoes through the night.

“Broken Spell” embodies the inquisitive and confusing moments after our protagonist awakes. Overcome with visions of a foreboding mysterious landscape, our protagonist dream is scored by a siren song that begins our heroes journey into the underworld where the duality of light and darkness, hope and despair, and the thin line between them, immerses the listener through a melodic maze towards Gate.

As the story progresses, the music evolves to mirror the various facets of the film's narrative. “Safe Passage” incorporates field recordings, interwoven with delicate acoustic guitar melodies, evoking the mysterious and treacherous forests surrounding the path to the Gate.

The film's climactic battle scene is accompanied by “Seventh Seal” an intense composition driven by a hypnotic bass line, polyrhythmic melody, and angelic strings.

Throughout the soundtrack, recurring motifs and musical themes tie together the disparate elements of the story, creating a sense of continuity and cohesion. The melodies, harmonies, and rhythms reflect the duality of light and darkness, hope and despair, and the thin line between them.

"Saviors Gate" merges medieval sensibilities with modern musical techniques, resulting in a haunting and immersive sonic experience. It underscores the film's supernatural themes, the struggles of its characters, and the pervasive sense of dread that permeates the story. Composed of acoustic instruments, field recordings, modular synthesizers, and sequencers, the soundtrack transports listeners to a realm where the veil between worlds is thin, and the forces of evil that lie in the path to the Gate.

Ākāsagata is Avsluta’s second solo release that materialised over the past two years in the flux of coming in and out of moments of inspiration and creative flow. This time allowed for a deeper dive into the ever shifting inspirations behind Avsluta’s creative output and finding a way to sculpt new material with these elements in mind. 

She merges influences from tribal-infused ambient, percussive downtempo and the deeper, hazier shades of electronica to conjure up an imaginative hypnotising world of her own. 

Complimenting the three original tracks are two remixes by Primal Code and Saphileaum, the artists that have been a long-standing source of inspiration for Lucie and that are bringing a more energetic, dancier pace into the mix.

It is a great pleasure to finally be able to share with you this special release with sounds from four of the most wonderful creative minds of our time, a release that we have been working hard on for a long time.

The time has come to unveil the label's next release in cassette and digital format. The aim of the ACCENTAPE series is to bring two artistic worlds together, to give the listener a sense of the echoes and resonances between musical approaches whose aesthetics are either not so far apart, or on the contrary, sometimes to play on contrasts and offer albums with more depth. For this new release, it's more a question of two worlds criss-crossing and meeting in a softness and light of musical tones made of complementarity and chromatic sensitive reverberations.
Avsluta is a London-based artist, producer and DJ, curator of the Introspective Electronics radio show and podcast series and organiser of Terra Obscura parties with 10 years under her belt at London’s electronic music institution Phonica Records. Apart from her solo work, she is one half of Vādin, a musical project in collaboration with sound artist Christian Duka. She has released music on Indefinite Pitch, Secuencias Temporales and Huinali, and her musical approach is both atmospheric and organic, including field-recording and vocals, tribal and polyrhythmic percussion. Her signature sound is organic, sensitive and bewitching.
Adhémar is a Paris-based artist, painter, producer and DJ whose approach is deliberately synaesthetic, in which he translates pictorial and coloured sensations into ethereal and dreamlike waves. He is also known for his progressive and delicate DJ sets, notably for renowned series such as Monument, Silent Season, Delayed, and has released EPs on labels such as Different Exhibition, Huinali, Initiate, Ritualism, Artscope...
ACCENTAPE009 is an ideal shared album for this new spring season which promises to be sunny and mild, like the budding of trees, the return of birds, and the flowering of nature.

Premiere: Javier Marimon - Infinite Vault [KLP06]

The relationship between the visual and auditory creative realms is a close one. Equally as expressive, and open to experimentation, both seem to elevate the other when done tastefully and in combination. It comes to no surprise then, that our premiere for today is from a collaboration between Javier Marimon, and Daniel[i], as JD. A great producer outright, Javier Marimon’s visual contributions range far and wide in our scene, through various label logos, club flyers, album artworks and more, his touch is undeniable, and recognizable. Equally so for his German counterpart on the release, as Daniel[i]'s productions are near and dear to all our hearts.

Continuing a structure of other prior collaborations and releases on Off Tangent, focused around shortened production periods and an emphasis on raw sessions, Javier and Daniel[i]’s time together has coalesced into the seventh release on Javier’s imprint. Titled Segments I and II, the two tracker sits well within the wheelhouse of both artists, shedding light on what is possible from a few meetings and a knack for when something is finished.

Segment II arrives precisely when it means to. Each element unfolds at its own pace, maintaining tension, movement, keeping things interesting however deftly so. Not overt, but subtle. Textures, and off kilter bass lines intermix with muted melodies and cast a shadow over all.

Segments I and II will be released on the 28th of May on Off Tangent Recs.

In his first full-length LP, Polën co-founder Hidolas explores the depths of the creative and destructive forces of nature : volcanoes.

From the on-field sound smithereens and unique sensations harvested on the Aeolian volcanic archipelago, he meticulously crafts a sonic journey through the boiling depths of telluric forces and the tranquil landscapes of caves, forests and beaches, in an attempt to grasp the primal source of earthly sounds.

The field-recordings, capturing underground volcanic activity and outdoor natural soundscapes, act as witnesses of a flourishing resilient life and the proximity of potential annihilation through fire. The music tries to convey the ambivalent feeling of simultaneous quietude and danger, beauty and desolation, through the entanglement of natural and artificial sound textures.

𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐑𝐄 : Hidolas - Solfatare [Pölen]

In October 2014, three friends packed a car with synths and drum machines and headed to a barn in the English countryside. Over two days, Kommune, comprising George Thompson (@black-merlin), Kyle Martin, and Jonathan Nash (@jonnynash), pushed their machines into deep, freeform territory. More than a decade later, these recordings resurface as Oast, an EP released via @secondcircle, the club-minded offshoot of Amsterdam’s @music-from-memory.
