With her years in the game, a multitude of awards, accolades and achievements, global tours and widespread influence, Sam Divine is a powerhouse artist. Renowned selector, producer, label owner and all round inspiration to countless women worldwide, she has established herself as a formidable presence. With 25 years under her belt, Sam’s vision and determination remain as staunch as ever. Driven by the finite nature of life, she is instigating a pivotal shift in her lifestyle. What we might call ‘Sam 2.0’ is the next phase of her evolutionary path, utilising her knowledge and experience to reveal more of her truest self.
 
Working on her personal growth, focusing on her wellbeing and exploring sobriety, while also pushing the boundaries of her creativity are key pillars of this internal, and external, development. As she reflects on the past couple of decades, Sam Divine is poised to push forward with the same energy and vibrancy that launched her onto the global circuit. Residencies are the mark of any DJ, and as the once long-term resident of the award-winning Nasimi Beach club in Dubai, Jackin' house specialist Marko Smokingroove has well and truly made his mark. Not only did he soundtrack the hottest party destination in the Middle East, he helped discover and launch the venue in 2009, curating the monthly Full Moon parties which saw record attendances well into their thousands. Nasimi's events have since grown into huge, one-day festivals where Marko has shared deck-time with some of the world's leading electronic music artists.   

Rewind 15yrs and you'll find a fresh-faced, budding DJ being approached to host his own show on the then popular London Pirate radio station, Freek FM. Having honed his skills on the radio, Marko went on to win an Open Decks competition at the celebrated Heaven club in London, before landing his first residency at the legendary Gardening Club in Covent garden. After 2 successful years there, Marko left London behind, and embarked on the next chapter in his career, Dubai.   

Together with his brother Safe, is one of the most infectious house producers on the circuit (Smokingroove) releasing jackin' joints on their own Mixtura & Illuminati Labels, while they've also been picked up by labels like Release Yourself, Magnetic, Great Lakes Audio & Love Network. 

The last few years have seen Marko's stock rise even higher. First, he launched a new musical concept at Hive bar which saw the sleepy venue rocket in popularity, before he crashed into the DJ Magazine Middle East Top 50 poll at the Number 10 spot, showing how quickly Marko's unique sound had been taken to heart in the region. Further accolades were to follow as Marko was nominated for the Best DJ gong at the prestigious Best In Dubai Awards and earned the Highly commended ‘Best Local DJ’ award in the Timeout Dubai Nightlife Awards 2013 & 14. 

Constantly striving for and pushing his own take on Jackin' House’ without following current fads Marko was awarded the What’s On Magazine title of ‘Best Dubai DJ’ in 2013 which was immediately followed by the Hype Magazine ‘Best DJ’ award as Smokingroove in 2014. They were also picked as one of the Ahlan Magazine Hot100 influential figures of the year thanks to their love for electronic music. Marko was signed up by Cafe Del Mar to become one of their few Middle East residents, taking him across the GCC, while he also compiled and mixed the first in a series of Pacha Dubai CDs which are on sale across the world.   

Marko Remains as the Sandance Festival resident and has seen him play to crowds of 12,000+ on a regular basis sharing vital stage time with the big wigs of the worlds electronic industry… One thing is for sure, Marko’s unique style of House Music seems to be hitting all the right spots and grabbing the attention of all the right ears.

Smokingroove, originally comprising of brothers Monsafe & Marko, cut their teeth on the mid 90s London underground pirate radio scene at legendary stations including Freek FM, Unknown, House FM and quickly built a name for themselves on dancefloors across the city with their own brand of bumping Chicago-fused house music.

As two wise chemically-enhanced men once said, ‘The brothers gonna work it out’ and it’s an adage that the two took to heart as they became one of the most in-demand production and DJ duos around. With over 160 releases over the last two decades, they’ve proven their ability to maintain a position in the international DJ scene.

When Marko moved to Dubai in 2007, Monsafe carried on playing across Europe while Marko solidified a new base in the Middle East with the launch of a then-new 5000 capacity venue that could be seen from Space named ‘Nasimi beach’ at the Atlantis hotel on the Palm.

Not only did they turn a once unremarkable patch of sand into a consistently sold-out clubbing location thanks to a sound-storm of beats and bass, they were instrumental in musically setting up all the 16,000+ capacity Sandance events and played alongside (and often closed for) Faithless, Florence & the machine, Jamiroquai, David Guetta, Avicii, Fatboy Slim, Chic, Frankie Knuckles, Steve Lawler, Roger Sanchez, Derrick Carter, Armand Van-Helden, Basement Jaxx and many, many more.

Smokingroove have since won just about every award in the region and have become a name representing great music on a global scale.

Alongside that, Smokingroove opened at the recent 'Unite with Tomorrowland', had multiple appearances at Creamfields, toured Europe and have built up a long-standing reputation for great underground music.

In 2018 Smokingroove became the Music Curator for the popular global brand, W Hotel with a new location on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The weekly radio show is currently syndicated to over 40 radio stations around the world with a weekly listenership in over 60 countries and sees the duo going back to their roots, making people dance around the world to their own flavour of what’s hot in the underground House music scene.
