the widow in her cloak	     
the dutch boy in his britches
Constantinople through a stereo viewer

the crumbling alabaster 
lands on the velvet rope      
and hides in broken plaster
medusa’s wonder globe     
conspiracy of fingers
to shake the mildewed snow        
around forgotten singers.
