SoundsByCatt is the mission-driven project of Brooklyn-based producer Nir Horowitz, dedicated to spotlighting the vibrant, often-overlooked voices of NYC’s independent music scene.

BROOKLYN#1 is a curated collection of five standout tracks from the past few months — each blending live instrumentation, modern arrangement techniques, and SoundsByCatt’s signature "woody" textures and deep pocket grooves. 
This project lives at the intersection of alternative R&B, indie soul, and alt-hip-hop.

1. Something in the Water
A soulful, slow-burning cut featuring vocalist Nev. With Leon Bridges/Son Little vibes, this track blends warmth and nostalgia with modern soul textures.

2. PULL UP
An edgy, alternative hip-hop track featuring Nory and Tascha. Gritty verses meet a hypnotic beat, capturing the raw confidence and energy of late-night Brooklyn.

3. How We Love
A moody, low-tempo alternative R&B ballad featuring French singer Tascha. Intimate, introspective, and full of space — this one leans into vulnerability and late-night emotion.

4. Everytime
Built around a minimalist groove, this alt-R&B track unfolds into a powerful, unexpected ending — channeling Prince-like emotion through live instrumentation and raw vocal layering.

5. Muscle Memory
The final track of the EP features Brooklyn’s Kristen Jollese. Ambient textures and silky vocals wrap the project with emotional depth and cinematic atmosphere — a fitting closer to BROOKLYN#1.

UK pianist and singer Reuben James today releases So Cool, the second single from his forthcoming EP Slow Down. So Cool is an exquisitely chilled, jazz-inflected R&B jam that showcases James’ innate knack of combining compelling storytelling with catchy hooks. 
So Cool follows the release last month of the EP’s lead single My Line, which featured guest spots for vocalist and producer Col3trane, East-London rapper Jay Prince, Quincy Jones collaborator Vula, and jazz trailblazer Soweto Kinch. 

Millions around the world have enjoyed the music of Birmingham-born pianist and singer Reuben James. Having toured the globe three times performing with Sam Smith, including shows at The Oscars and The Grammys, and having contributed songs to Smith’s 4 million-selling album The Thrill Of It All, as well as collaborations with a long line of illustrious artists including Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Herbie Hancock, Elton John and Tori Kelly, James is beginning to make a name for himself in his own right.
