The Triumph

I wrote this song after seeing a friend lose their loved one, and how they coped.  It made me wonder how I would move forward if I was to lose the love of my life.   

I've been back and forth whether I should release this track because lyrically it is very direct and personal, and in general, as a songwriter, it's a rule of thumb that released songs should be more relatable and broad in terms of their emotions and lyrics.  But, I'm at a time in my life where I don't really care :)  I've been finding that I've been following too many songwriting "rules" and now I just want to release music and if a song happens to connect with someone else then I consider that a win.

This song was written on piano and then given to composer Oliver Lodge who understood exactly the vibe I was after.  It's definitely got a musical theater element to it.
