So she will venture into the lair of the Beast. She will stand its gaze and hold her ground.

What lurks out there, preying on us from beneath the shadow of the night?

This podcast was inspired by the myth of Orpheus and by Olivier Ledroit’s graphic novel « Sha ».
And is dedicated to every woman who has been hurt, preyed on or spoiled by the folly of mankind.

After two failed attempts, at my third gig at Beate Uwe I finally managed to record my set 😅 🙌🏼 

With incense sticks, thyme tea and no shoes: Embrace the little imperfections of a club gig recording & (re)join my little barefoot trip from a slow, very organic start over some dreamy housey vibes to deeper ethno sounds and darker bassy tracks up until my super cheesy end (I was sooo happy to play this track haha). 

Thank you to everyone who came and danced with me. Big thanks to the lovely crew from Beate Uwe for having me and being so kind to me. And special thanks to everyone who takes the time and courage to approach me after my gigs - your feedback, love and encouragement mean the world to me and fill my heart with love and joy 🫶

KUSUF #38 jane ulé - Echoes

Hey, was war das bitte für ein Ritt.
Ein wundervoll organisiertes Festival mitten im Industriegebiet von Köln – mega war das! Wie auf dem Cover zu sehen, wurde unser Van kurz vor dem Auftritt abgeschleppt, weil wir ihn etwas ungeschickt geparkt hatten.
Dumm nur: Unser gesamtes Equipment war noch drin.

Der Abschleppdienst-Mitarbeiter war – nett gesagt – nicht gerade Fan von uns. Also mussten wir ordentlich blechen, damit er den Van nicht direkt auf seinen Hof bringt und wir am Ende ohne Hab und Gut dastehen. Instrumente inklusive.

Nach diesem Schock hiess es erstmal: runterkommen. Zum Glück durften wir danach einen richtig tollen Auftritt spielen – beim Spielen vergessen wir immer alles.
So wurde’s trotz allem ein schönes Erlebnis mit ein paar Learnings für die Zukunft.

Tears ran down my face as I played.
It was my first time performing at Fusion Festival—my music, my medicine—since surviving cancer and the surgery.
And only there, in the middle of that wild, beautiful chaos, did I fully realize the depth of what I’ve been through.
Fusion wasn’t just a festival for me.
It was a threshold. A mirror. A fire. A moment of release.
To stand there—unable to speak—but still be heard through the beats, the pauses, the glances, the dance... it broke me open.
Not speaking has challenged me to the core. 
But it’s also made space for something else.
A different kind of presence.
A different kind of listening.
A different kind of offering.
For me, music isn’t about relentless rhythm.
It’s about creating a space to feel. To weave a journey.
The silence before the beat can hold more than the beat itself.
I want my sets to confront. To pause. To let people feel that music can be medicine.
Strangers and friends with tears in their eyes hugged me—
not just because I played, but because I was there.
Alive.
That touched me beyond words.

Since decades i am collecting sounds and fieldrecordings for occasions like this afterhour to use. combined with slowbeat and ballades and some goofy tunes i present you my "3000Grad Tape", that I performed for you in real time Sunday night at the theatrestage afterhour. I was so excited to do this for you <3 
So you could lay and sit around, some even danced, cuddle with your friends and talk about everything. This was the romance in my head :) Thank you for being there, i loved it soooo much!
