✔️ What is your musical background?

The old DJ equipment from my good friend Joe Carl in our shared flat and our first DJ-session together.
The energetic tornado of love and pain from Florence (& The Machine) at the Melt Festival.
The live bands in my uncles Irish pub until the glasses were knocked off the shelf by the baselines.
The songs we listened to up and down in the back seat of my mom's VW bus as kids.

Sun, juice and fresh fruits!

✔️ Any thoughts about your mix and your gig?

My overcoming of playing without preparation and watching myself, the people and the atmosphere closely and letting all the vibes help decide which track comes next! Thank you for the combination of 38 degrees, asphalt and no wind Mannheim, I was able to flow in the truest sense.

With Chemin d’Ivoir, Papfay presents a lovingly crafted mini-album that oscillates between introspective electronica and subtle club melancholy. Two original tracks form the emotional core of the release, complemented by four remixes that expand the sound without losing sight of its essence.
The title track, “Chemin d’ivoir”, unfolds in patient layers – a piece like a slow-moving river, carried by shimmering textures, delicate harmonies, and a profound sense of space. The atmosphere emerges here through restraint.
“Come Upstairs” picks up the thread but moves in a bolder direction: more rhythmic, edgier, yet no less emotional. The drums dance lightly while the harmonic structure shifts between warmth and unease – a track for late nights and meandering thoughts.

Flausch am Sonntag im TurTur Hamburg 060725

Last month I had the privilege of attending a small gathering a couple hours north of Cape Town in one of the most serene areas of the country, Citrusdal. The event took place on the Waterfall Farm; a venue I've attended before, but was recently taken over by a group of truly magical humans with a vision very similar to mine - building a space that fosters human creativity and expression whilst deeply caring for this magnificent land that we are so fortunate to call our home. ⛰️

The focus of the weekend wasn't just to dance, but to come together and take full advantage of what the land has to offer - slow mornings with yoga and breath work, followed by an afternoon relaxing at the massive waterfalls; with music only starting in the evening. Before I played we had a couple hours of acoustic performances and living singing till I took over just after 8pm. So this set is meant to bridge the gap between a live artist and the night of electronic music, with the inimitable @natasamusic playing after me. 🔥

As my first set in SA (outside of AfrikaBurn) for the year I thoroughly enjoyed bringing a ton of fresh music and having a crowd in front of me filled with mates - ahhh - this was special! Really happy with how this set turned out - I've had it on repeat for the last couple weeks 😄 Thanks again to @gurt_music for the invite and having me a part of this special gathering. Cannot wait to see how this concept and this venue evolves! 💃

I'm looking up to many great musicians and artists that inspire me, and people that walk their own path and do the things they love. Driven by a passion for discovering music; deacon has built a formidable collection spanning from downtempo through psychedelic techno to a deep progressive all containing a homogeneous groovy energy and impeccable sound design. Currently signed to @techgnosisrecords, he carefully selects tracks to create an eccentric narrative tailored to each event and lineup with one purpose: to introduce new sounds that bridge division and bring connection through sound and movement.

Full bio:
Driven foremost by a passion for discovering new music; Matthew Deacon has built a treasure chest of audible gold and has been sharing these gems with dancefloors for over a decade now.

A varying palate for sound led to the discovery of psychedelic techno in 2017 and prompted a rebrand under his namesake with a more focused sound. Hooked by the layers, depth, vast variety of sounds and intrinsic musical nature the genre presented led to the emergence of the soundscape we know as Deacon.

As time progressed he started discovering more music, artists and labels representing these similar characteristics; at a higher tempo there was deep/dark progressive, a lighter side of Zenonesque, and slowing things down with a reinterpretation of downtempo, akin to pitched down techno. And whilst these can be considered three distinct genres, they all hold a similar energy; with deep basslines, organic elements and impeccable production, and Deacon enjoys navigating between them. Carefully selecting tracks to create an eccentric narrative tailored to the event and lineup with one purpose: to bridge division and bring connection through sound and movement.

MINILEX Sound ist individuell und doch klar definiert. Seine Sets strotzen vor schwungvollen Techno-Grooves und sind mit einem charaktervollen Knistern veredelt, das nur analoge Tonträger hervorbringen können.
2008 machte MINILEX als Resident im Erfurter CLUB CENTRUM erstmals auf sich aufmerksam. Gemeinsam mit Sven U.K. bildet er das DJ-Team RUND.RUM und ihr neustes Projekt OPAL BITES. Seit über 16 Jahren celebriert er regelmäßig seine extravaganten Sounds und ist seit 2009 eine feste Größe im angesagten Münchner PALAIS. 2015 gründen die beiden dann das Label KRIEMHILDS NACHTKUSS und bringen Kollaborationen mit Künstlern wie ZAKARI & BLANGE, ANDOMAT3000 und PAUL BRCIC unter die Leute.
Minilex Einstellung zum Techno wurde in prä-digitalen Zeiten geprägt und so ist Vinyl bis heute seine große Leidenschaft geblieben. Für ihn ist das schwarze Plastik authentisch und stilvoll. Diese edle Grundhaltung trifft inzwischen auch auf digitalen Sound, der seine ideenreichen Sets bereichert. So entstehen einzigartige Sounds mit reichlich technoider Lebensfreude und einem housefidelen Hüftschwung  – eine Mischung, die ihr Ziel nicht verfehlt!
