Pete Fossi and I covered this in the 70's. We put it together again 50 years later with this recording.
A beautiful song about life. Both Sides Now was written by Joni Mitchell  a Canadian born singer-songwrtier, in 1966. It was first recorded by Judy Collins. Mitchell has said that "Both Sides Now" was inspired by a passage in Henderson the Rain King, a 1959 novel by Saul Bellow.
I was reading ... Henderson the Rain King on a plane and early in the book Henderson ... is also up in a plane. He's on his way to Africa and he looks down and sees these clouds. I put down the book, looked out the window and saw clouds too, and I immediately started writing the song. I had no idea that the song would become as popular as it did.

In this cancel culture "Progressive" society the historic roles of people are constantly changing. Words and people are being cancelled. Free speech is only allowed if it is in support of those in power. Cinderella, as a role type (and story), is probably on the chopping block. So, I decided to give it life in a song.

Tribute to my best friend, Joe Pedersen who we lost recently to CJD. Joe was an inspiration in life and music to everyone who was lucky enough to have him in their life. He will be missed by so many and I'm sure he is in heaven picking that twelve string and singing with his brother, John Prine, and others. He will always be a real Troubadour in so many ways.

This is a song dedicated to my beautiful wife Suzi. We have known each other since High School and Reacquainted at our 50th High School Reunion. This a picture of us trying out for the Talent Show...and no, we did not make it singing "500 Miles." But we finally made it together. Thanks to Pete Fossi for his spirited assistance in helping me get this song recorded. His help was the key for me doing this and is really appreciated. Also, thanks to a former band mate, Dennis Roney for his solo/lead that gave this song some dimension. Happy Birthday, Suzi. Love you, Joe
