Starting out at the tender age of 14, I wrote my first song, Sorry Mate.
It's still a favourite when I perform, and it's the one song people remember me by. I''ve played many venues around the West Midlands including The Varsity Wolverhampton, The Little Civic, The Sound Bar, The Wharf Bar and the biggest to date, Symphony Hall Birmingham.

I am currently working on new material after quite a long break. Within that time I worked on several band projects, exploring different genres and creating weird and wonderful music with many talented musicians.

I can play several musical instruments, but I struggle to sight read. My main instrument is my voice, and I work hard to maintain and improve it.

He is well known for playing acoustic, ukulele and has recently added Loop Pedal to his set.

Johnny Marr started his career with The Smiths, beginning an amazing history as one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists in British independent music. His subsequent creative journey has seen him at the heart of The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribs, as well as working with The Pretenders, Talking Heads, The Avalanches, and the musician and composer Hans Zimmer - with whom he recorded the score and soundtrack for the most recent James Bond film, No Time To Die, including the title track created with Billie Eilish.

The full measure of this extraordinarily fertile period is captured on his latest offering, Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr, a major new collection curated by Marr encompassing songs from his first 10 years as a solo artist, a scattering of stand-alone singles and two incendiary new cuts, Somewhere and The Answer. 
 
Spirit Power presents a composite portrait of an artist with no less a complete ideology than the celebrated co-travellers who inspired him along the way. It’s a body of work that mirrors Marr’s unquenchable life force, breadth of musicality, and above all, his love of melody.
