Solid Piece of kit,  however on this excursion I’ve decided to use

Country Willis is a musical collaboration between two 
massive losers,  myself Brutal Willis and Liquid Country 
(Daniel Pickering) or better known as Chesney 
Hawkes. 

Every ten years or so we get together make some tracks,  get baked 
out of our brains, forget about them, listen to them a couple of 
years later and say “hey what’s this,  it’s got a good beat”


We made this track about a year ago,  Hans Gruber hear’s the track,  
loves it, wants to make a video to accompany said track

The sound of Breakbeat has always been very close to my heart as this collection demonstrates.  This is a unique mix ive been meaning to put together for some time.  It's an opportunity for me to highlight some of my favourite tracks of this wonderfull genre and with the help of Brutal Willis we have managed to squeeze 40 tracks into this 2 hr vinyl pilgrimage into what is essentially the sample of a syncopated drum beat.

Some of these tracks are over 20 years old and whilst some of it may seem pretty fast,  this is how it rolled.

This was the first and quite possibly the best track I was invlolved with the late, great Mikey J. This has never seen the light of day, the Internet or even a plant based diet :)

Soon after it was finished I gave Mike's Mum Irene a copy.... She hammered the dubplate from Ragamuffins to Pantiles to Farnborough rec and also made an appearance on the platters of a Phyliss Tuckwell coffee morning :)

I’ve always had a soft spot for D’n B and I have great admiration for the loyalty, passion and dedication of it’s many global followers.  Like House music or any other genre it stems into many different styles within, whilst all snuggled up under the same roof. 

The Vinyl Frontier was a great hub for the representation and distribution of Drum and Bass,  from Soothing liquid intelligence via generous Jump up into terrifying Tech Step we documented most of this in very reasonable numbers ! 

So by way of some sort of summary here is some of my favourite tracks put together in true Brutal Willis style,  yeah you might call some it Jungle even Breakbeat..... blah blah ..... ( I have no idea what I’m doing here so apologies and respect to the people who do ! )

I made this mix in 2010 for Lyddstock,  the charity wake boarding festival in Lydd, Kent run by Rawdy De Fresnes,  Pete Kenyon with the help and support of many others……. 


Me old mucka Persephone Deacon aka Miss DJj Sauce recently asked me if I could dig this mix up from the dead,…. so here it is.  Like a lot of old mixes I really don’t remember making this but it has some killer cuts on it, still holds up well and a lot of these got laid down over that wonderful weekend. 

We had a sound system that would not have been out of place in a football stadium let alone next to a gentle lake at the Action Water sports Centre ! We heard the rumours that they were feeling the beats in Calais……

ADR Part 4 - NYE 2020 - Live In The Mix

Joe has been been trying to craft the perfect transition between two records for the last 30 years,  one day he'll get there but until then,  welcome to the official home of Brutal Willis where we specialise in the exclusive currency of Global Electronic Soul. 

I managed Vinyl Frontier Records in Woking,  Surrey for the best part of a decade..... living, breathing,  loving and sharing repetitive beats.   I have been fortunate enough to grace the platters at lots of different clubs,  events and festivals up and down the country and Europe.  I co ran the legendary night "Shuffle" (which may come back one day).  I won the coveted "bedroom bedlam" mixtape award for Muzik magazine, residencies at the Cross, The Pool , Piranah's and 333 in London and was awarded the Percy Thrower Lifetime achievement award for services to the green plant.  I have played at Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Kimberley, Orchard amongst  many others and more recenly a regular fixture at the Give ! festival for House of Honey.   These day's I can be found deep in stock pots working culinary magic for all kinds of people,  however you may still catch me behind the platters (that matter) as much as I can.  I love music with a captivating groove, a glowing warmth,  sincerity and emotion however it comes and still relish the opportunity to share my sounds manually through the medium we know as Vinyl.  As long as it's available I will continue to support it,  everything about it just works and I believe it helps strengthen our beloved scene.
