Morning High ushers in a new era for Dank ‘n’ Dirty with a three-track 140 EP featuring DJ Variant. The Denver-based producer returns to the label for his debut solo release after providing serious heat for the yearly 420 compilation series. The EP also welcomes DJ Variant to the Dank ‘n’ Dirty Dubz roster, marking his debut release on the label.

Morning High gets straight to the point with ‘Systems’, a no-nonsense wobbler rolling around in classic dubstep textures. Then DJ Variant steps up to collaborate on ‘Melfina’, creating a forest of luscious pads and stomping basslines guided by enigmatic female vocals. Finally Morning High steps off the forest path and heads deeper into the wilderness with ‘Chakka’, where zithers, metallic distortions and murky synth voices dance over twisting sub bass.

Throughout 2022, Dank ‘n’ Dirty Dubz are celebrating 12-years of releasing soundsystem music with a brand-new look, revamped logo and a monthly drop schedule totalling 12 new releases this year. The label is excited to welcome back artists who have continually provided great music to the catalogue over the years, as well as create new connections with producers who are making waves in underground dance music worldwide. Dank ‘n’ Dirty Dubz is proud to honour this intent with its first release of the year, a 3-track dubstep EP from American producers Morning High and DJ Variant.

"We knew to expect something unusual when Le Lion offered us this 5 track EP, and he did not disappoint. This sporadic five tracker is a combination of super crunchy arrangements letting syncopation run wild. Organic drum stutters and glitchy synthetic textures are the main focus. Clearlight offers a stripped back version for the final track that includes a haunting bassline and an overall militant tone. It's one of the most abstract accomplishments of Le Lion's work we've heard in a while."

The first official BLC EP comes from our Santa Cruz brother Swomp. He captured our hearts with his Charlesthefirst influenced sound design and production. He is one of the most talented artists we have had the pleasure of working with. Do not sleep on this man. Chameleon is a beautiful display of melodies and atmospheres that make you feel like you are getting lost in an ocean while scuba diving. We cannot say enough good stuff about Swomp.

We're happy to welcome Joe Big (@Joebig1) from Michigan, US to the label for his debut release with Too Much Collective. Joe brings four huge cuts with this release, exploring loads of different sound pallets; the title track 'Unstable' brings winding synth lines to melt your brain, followed by 'Papilon' where Joe brings a very nice grimey/garage sound mixed with his own influences. Following this comes 'Jive' a drum heavy banger with some great jazzy chords. The EP concludes with Memphis inspired 'Silent Night' Ft. Basura rounding things off with a huge bassline and dirty sound design!

As a DJ, Mikrodot’s penchant for sharing his passion for the 140 sound has earned him fans all over the world. His proficiency on sound systems is a skill sure to impress any bass hungry crowd. He has performed in over half of the states in the US, and is continuing to

All 4 of these cuts bring freshness and originality to the ever-growing 140 sound and are a meticulous blend of styles given both of the artist's virtuosity and creative ability. 

"First, 'Built The Same' sets the pace of the EP with luscious chords and a prolific melody all wrapped together by its enticing low end. Next, the title track 'Can You Hear It' is a weighty number focused on its orbiting sub-bass and crisp percussion with a switch up that is sure to get any dance moving. On the B-side, an exceptional and unparalleled fusion of both modern synth-bass oscillations with the classical UK style groove and step of some jungle and garage is evident in 'When The Rain Comes'; all of this pieced together nicely with a jazzy saxophone sequence. Rounding out the EP, 'We're Alright Now' features a radiating, encircling melody that is sure to grab the attention of it's listeners with punching low end and soulful vocal shouts."
