A segment of my 3 hour set that was recorded live during the 2013 Ostgut Ton resident's night at Berghain.

<p>It&#8217;s time for Sasha Carassi&#8217;s &#8220;Echoes&#8221; from a few months ago to receive remix treatment, and Skober&#8217;s interpretation is up first and focuses on the melodic elements of the Original but cleverly adds moody synths which add to the overall epicness of the affair, especially in the grandiose breakdown. Layton Giordani is up next with his trademarked shadowy sound and impeccable arrangement, offering yet another angle of attack. Last but not least are Loco &amp; Jam dubbing things out with bursts of references to the original in key moments, while maintaining a rocksteady vibe sprinkled with discordant stabs.</p>

Interstate Records is a newborn independent record label based between London and Berlin. It´s run by the up-and-coming duo Dial Tone and aims to provide a vibrant and diverse platform for emerging and established artists within the Techno scene, whilst occasionally touching upon Ambient and other experimental music spheres. All records will be released on vinyl and digital (+ 8 weeks).

As an introduction, the label has put together a release, comprised of some of the scene’s most promising artists. Stretching from heart-melting deepness to pure club functionality, this V/A aims to highlight the different directions ahead, as the label continues to evolve.

Based in St. Petersburg, Nocow is undoubtedly one of Russian electronic music’s most remarkable protagonists having released on Clone, Figure, Fauxpas Musik, Gost Zvuk and Styrax. Recognised for maintaining consistency whilst traversing various sub-genres, Nocow is as comfortable producing intricate IDM and robust techno as he is calm ambient and melancholic electronica.

In ‘Soul Connection’ a spoken word vocal mutters over metallic percussion and ominous stabs whilst a dense pad washes over everything. An undulating synth and ethereal effects make up ‘Disappear’ before moving onto syncopated drums and shadowy atmospherics in ‘Samaya Dolgaya Noch’. Next up, ‘Stop’ is comprised of mesmerising melodies, sturdy kicks and a looped vox until Nocow concludes the package with a short 2-step cut titled ‘Aesthetic Mind’.

Over the past decade, FaltyDL has worked with a lot of labels: Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Swamp 81, Rush Hour, Aus, All City, his own Blueberry imprint... and that's just a partial list. On January 26, however, this shapeshifting Brooklyn producer will add another label to the list when he drops the 'Three Rooms' EP via Hypercolour. With hi octane numbers like VNTM & Tahko’s ‘Rave Culture’ and Risa Taniguchi’s ‘Ridiculous’ the compilation takes off before the maestro Nick Curly’s ‘Refuge’ and JNO’s ‘Relief’, who just released his first EP on Second State, take matters into deeper, low slung territory. Industrialyzer’s ‘Pulse’ certainly picks up the pace again as Ilija Djokovic’s ‘Chimera’ and Frazier’s ‘Escapism’ blend the lines between post modern production techniques and classic rave sounds. Turning into the back half of the compilation we have the wicked vibes of Flug’s ‘Maschine’ and Fabio Florido’s ‘Upsurge’ pave the way for newcomers Emanate’s mesmerizing ‘Again & Again’. Wrapping up the twelve tracker are ‘Wiggle’, a wild track of the winner of this year’s Beats in School competition by Beatport and Second State, and the label’s mainstay BEC’s instant hit ‘Three Words’, resulting in a finely curated package that will deliver in any moment.

For its 68th release, Gem Records signs a true legend. Oliver Lieb has been influential to many genres during his decades long career. Like a true pioneer, he delivers a powerful three tracker with a distinctive unique sound and excellent production work. 

Starting off life as a bass player in a funk band, Lieb spent most of his career behind the mixing desk. An impressive 13 albums were the result earning him recognition as one of the world’s top electronic producers. Remixes for Faithless, The Human League, Moby and Yello followed. 

Artemis EP contains three strong dancefloor killers that are bound to cause goose bumps and build energy wherever a DJ is bold enough to hammer it. Secret weapon for those who know how to use it.
