"Five Gifts for an Old Friend" was premiered under the expert baton of maestro Jonathan Brandani by the wonderfully talented players of the Yale Philharmonia as part of the New Music New Haven series.

'Five Gifts' is a set of variations on a short birthday piece I wrote for an old friend of mine in 2012.  The original piece was only about 30 seconds long, but when that birthday popped up again this past fall, I revisited the piece and decided to use it as the foundation for a set of orchestral variations.  But in addition to a series of variations, this piece is everything I've always wanted to do with an orchestra.  I've always wanted to write a waltz, I've always wanted to write silly cartoon music, I've always wanted to write a raucous and wild gallop ending.  And what resulted was the cheesiest, schmaltziest, silliest music I could imagine.

A special thanks goes to my wonderful friends, teachers, and colleagues from the Yale Philharmonia and the YSM Composition Department who made this concert possible.  You all did an absolutely amazing job and I am forever indebted to you!  Bravo Tutti!

In 2007, Maurice retired from the LSO after 30 years as its Principal Trumpet. This podcast was made to celebrate his time in the LSO, and includes interviews with Maurice's wife, family and colleagues, as well as the man himself.

Hey! I noticed that there weren't many covers of the final song from the Miraculous Ladybug Origins episode, where Adrien and Marinette first become friends. So, I wrote some sheets and threw together this performance in the hopes that we'll see some more covers of this beautiful piece of music.

Fossil Echo is the culmination of more than two years of work, and I’m incredibly pleased to finally be able to share it with you. The game tells the story of a young boy climbing a mysterious tower that rises from the middle of the sea. How he got there, why he’s on this quest, and what he’ll find at the top are all things you’ll have to discover for yourself as you make your ascent.

With its beautiful hand-drawn and animated art style and incredible environments, Fossil Echo immediately captured my imagination, and was an absolute joy to score, and giving a voice to the strange and wonderful world created by artist and designer Philippe Crifo was a genuine pleasure.

Depicting a world equal parts haunting, beautiful, and dangerous, with flashes of real beauty around every corner is every composer’s dream, and I hope you enjoy listening Fossil Echo as much as I enjoyed writing it.

On Saturday September 22nd a well known Roman Catholic priest died.
Father Bernie Black had been a parish priest in Fort Chipweyan, Hay River, Behchoko, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith and Yellowknife.
He was 80 years old. Former priest Jim Lynn and parishioner Niala Cazon tell us, he touched a lot of lives in a positive way.

Ludwig Göransson is a young composer who has already carved an amazing path for himself in the film and television industry as one of the greatest composers alive today and he is just getting started. Scoring huge titles as Tenet, Black Panther, Creed, Creed II, Venom, and now his themes and scores for Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Ludwig is sure to be one of the hottest composers sought after in Hollywood. I won't lie. the scene that this piece comes from already made me emotional. We've only waited for almost forty years to see some of the event in this particular episode. But when the music came in to support the already emotional ending, it brought me to tears! Actual tears... I couldn't help it. 
     
"Open the Door" is the gorgeous soundtrack to the final scene in the Iconic season 2 finale of The Mandalorian Chapter 16. This piece of music is some of the best work I have heard in a long time! 

This video is completely arranged by me, by ear, and from my sample library collection. I studied this peace and will continue to study his work to understand why this composition works so well to support the emotional scenes.
