Our New Series This Sunday, January 21st, @ 10 AM, The Wilderness, Part 3 “Strike Two”
Last week we saw that in as little as three days after being gloriously delivered and passing through the Red Sea the Israelites began showing signs of ingratitude. The Lord deliberately brought them to Marah, where the waters were bitter, while they were thirsty, to see how they would react. They complained, even though it had only been three days since they passed through the Red Sea on dry ground! On this occasion, God would not rebuke them but would use it as a teaching moment as Moses would throw a piece of wood into the bitter waters to make them drinkable. Subtly, God was teaching them to trust Him and also that when needs arose, they just needed to call on Him. Like Moses adding the wood to the bitter waters so they would turn sweet, God was showing them that in every situation when things are bitter, adding Him will take the bitterness away.
