#032: Mira & Chris Schwarzwälder - Montagssorbet mit Laut & Luise

"Darlin' Celsa" is the Dr Jekyll side of Maestro, when their evil sounds and twisted lyrics appear brighter and softer. This is of course a sham, hidden behind this perfect catchy pop song, its bitter sweet melodies, naive vocal samples and light synths arpeggios, Mark Kerr sings about jealousy and loss. Celsa may be his long lost teenage queen. Who knows. "Darlin', you don't know what you've done".

It was a challenge for us to find relevant remixers on this. So we decided to look in unusual directions. 

First came Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, the new synth goddess, master of the mythical Buchla modular synth, descendant of Laurie Spiegel, Doris Norton and all the long forgotten female avant-garde synth geniuses. After reading an article about her online, Joakim emailed her on her website and she immediately was into the project. Kaitlyn subtly kept the original vocal sample and improvised a dreamy hypnotic piece on her Buchla around it.

Then came the crazy idea to ask one of our shared musical heroes, Tom Ellard, aka Severed Heads, true pioneer and visionary of the industrial scene in the 80s, and much more. For those who don't know Severed Heads (shame on you!) think of Throbbing Gristle meeting the Pet Shop Boys, and much more :) Still active and still musically totally relevant today (very rare fact), he stayed close to the original while emphasizing some weird aspects of the original and adding his peculiar sound signature.

Celsa was a favorite of Tigersushi's DyE since the first day he heard the demo, so it was natural for us to ask him to remix the song. Which he did in a surprising and super catchy way, incorporating melodies reminiscent of a famous electronica act (???) on a hypnotic late techno groove that made us think of Matthew Jonson early productions.
