London based Italian-Ivorian Producer and DJ Ehua has been taking the UK music scene by storm for a number of years. Following her debut on London based label Femme Culture ‘Diplozoon’, Ehua continued their strong string of releases from Nervous Horizon to Orphan Records: a string of releases which, over the years, has accompanied playing at some of the biggest UK clubs and festivals.
In 2019 Ehua soundtracked 'M I R R O R S', a live audio/visual dance performance that toured across Africa in association with ‘GRIOT’ the online magazine that Ehua co-runs with Johanne Affricot and Eric Otieno. GRIOT’s main focus is to amplify contemporary culture, arts, music and style from Africa and the African diaspora.

Ehua’s connection to the music is clear to see and it runs heavily through everything that they are involved in. Their own sonics are a hybrid of beautiful African percussion and rhythms fused with hypnotic minimal techno, and the driving movement in the music means that throughout Ehua’s sets and productions it is almost impossible to dance.

Welcome to the Nasty kingdom.

Berlin-based producer Nasty King Kurl has been releasing music since 2017 on imprints such as Serious Trouble and 777 Recordings. His background is firmly rooted in modern hip hop and incorporates a lot of live elements into his performances. This feeds into his productions, mixing an often time hectic soundscape with pop sensibilities with a heavy dose of sampling. This can be found most evidently on his own label Nasty Enterprises where he has a humorous approach to production, never quite taking himself too seriously with solo EPs and ‘Family Affair’ compilations which have hosted records from Kuno, Christopher Pau, Karma She, Shawn Cartier, Morwell and more. More recently you can find Nasty King Kurl on Mother’s Finest’s relatively new label with the Hekate EP - out next Friday.

"After an unexpected year of long lockdowns, being unable to see one another for months and gigs put on hold indefinitely, we were finally able to get together and record this mix, going b2b for the first time since the beginning of lockdown in March! When we first met a few years ago, we bonded over a shared love for all sounds spanning across the bass spectrum and spent countless evenings going b2b on youtube. Much like this year, we ditched all plans and just went in for the mix, bouncing off each other and playing the tracks we knew the other would love. This mix allowed us to lean into the deeper and darker side of our musical tastes, making it dark, dubby and percussive. We think it speaks well to the feeling of pent up energy, and the dreams of long and loud nights at the club with friends. Hopefully we’ll all be back in front of the funktion 1’s soon (not without your earplugs!). Here is a mix between friends, hopefully it brings you as much joy listening as it brought us while making!
