I don't recall Lemmings coming out until '91 or so, but either way it's suddenly sobering to think it was 25 years ago now ... having read the previews for it in a magazine and all... o_O ... Also, the description makes me think this is what a ZX version of Worms would have sounded like :D

This music was part of the soundtrack for an unreleased game named Sokoban Perfect, made in 1991 for the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and MSX computers.

This was composed for the Space stage, and a sort of homage to one of my favorite games - Galaxian.

Sokoban Perfect - We Are The Galaxians (AY-3-8912, 1991, unreleased)

I completely forgot I did this track! It sounds only when the game is loaded into a ZX Spectrum 48k. Recorded directly from a real ZX Spectrum +.

Mystical (ZX Spectrum 48k (beeper), ~1990)

When I composed this tune I thought about a war between Lemmings of different factions. It was meant to tell a story funny at first but with a sad ending.

It stars with the wise men of the tribes deliberating about going to war, then it's the call to arms where the lemmings start gathering and marching to the battlefield. The battle part follows, in crescendo, until the peak of the battle, and the end of it, leaving thousands of Lemmings lying dead or hurt over the battlefield (use your imagination!). A final sad melody reminds that in every war both sides lose.

Composed probably in 1990, using my ZX Spectrum Compact Editor tracker and recorded from it using ZXSpin.

Soundtrack for an unreleased Game Boy Color game, composed in the year 2000. It was one of my latests soundtracks for Game Boy Color. Unfortunately the game was never published, though it was one of the most amazing racing games ever made for the console!

In the late nineties I did several soundtracks for the games of Velez & Dubail, published by Infogrames. At first I would also do the sountrack for Wacky Races, but they needed a really fast sound driver, as the game would be some of the most advanced ever for the console (just check it, it's amazing). Unfortunately my driver was too slow for what they needed, and writing a new and faster one was far out of schedule and budget.

The tracks you hear are the first test, just to check if the game could deal with the sound driver CPU consumption. The tunes only use 2 channels (+ noise), as one entire channel had to be reserved for the sound of the car engine. They use many stereo effects, so be sure to put your headphones on.

In the end the job went to Manfred Linzner who did a wonderful work.

Wacky Races - test tracks (GBC, 1999, unreleased)

Soundtrack for Ronaldo V-Football and UEFA 2000 soccer games for the Game Boy.

UEFA 2000 shares some sound flavour to my soundtrack for V-Rally. For Ronaldo I tried to compose something more festive, with some inspiration from my favourite game musician :-)

My first commercial tune for the Game Boy, released in the US as Cool Ball.

The game was only 32k in size (just like Bomb Jack) but very entertaining. It only had this tune and a small jingle for the game over. I was doing the mandatory military service and composed this tune in a weekend off.

I remember how amazed I was about the new possibilities of the Game Boy sound (specially the noise channel and the pseudo stereo), compared to the 8 bit computers I used until then!
