Welcome to the very first RISE Breathwork session. Each episode is dedicated to helping you reconnect with yourself through the power of music and breathing techniques. Whether you’re looking to reduce stress, boost your energy, or cultivate a deeper connection to yourself. We are here to help you rise to your full potential. 

Joep Mencke takes center stage to launch the inaugural session. Having facilitated many breathwork sessions across the globe for last three years, he will guide you through an immersive 20-minute breathwork experience. This carefully crafted practice combines Joep Mencke's original soundscapes (all music is composed by him) with guided breathing techniques, offering a unique opportunity for deep relaxation and self-discovery. Expect a harmonious blend of soothing melodies, warm soundscapes, and gentle beats to accompany you on this journey. 


No prior breathwork experience required for this session.

Breathwork Instructions

This practice is a connected breath, so there is no pause between the in- and exhale and the ex- and inhale. The breathing happens in a continuous motion. 
Make sure that when you inhale your belly and chest expands (as air flows into your body) and when you exhale your belly and chest fall (as air is flowing out of your body). If you feel like you want to move your body while breathing then we encourage you to move your body.

You can breathe in both through your mouth or nose and you breathe out through the mouth. Breathing in through the mouth is generally more powerful and therefor also creates a deeper experience. If you’re looking for a more gentle experience we advice you to breathe through your nose.

Each session consists on average of three or four cycles. Each cycle consists of a dynamic part, in which you’re in- and exhaling, and a retention part, in which you’re holding your breath. Each retention part starts with holding your breath after an exhale for around 45 seconds, and then you inhale fully and hold your breath again for another 45 sec. After each dynamic breathing part you will be surprised how long you can hold your breath in the retention part. You’re body is fully oxygenated but we are wired to start breathing again. We encourage you to explore your boundaries, but please do so in a gentle way. Always listen to your body and never force anything. These are just guidelines. Every body is different. 

During this practice you might experience bodily sensations like tingly feelings, muscle tensions, and changes in body temperature. Know that this is happening because these breathing techniques are impacting the physiology of your body and so these sensations are completely normal. In case you’re sensitive to the cold make sure you have a blanket close by.

If the experience is overwhelming at any point, return your breathing to normal (in and out through the nose). You are in control. 

This practice can be done both sitting or laying down. Make sure you’re in a comfortable position as each practice generally takes 20-25 minutes. Make sure you won’t be disturbed during your practice.

Through musical storytelling he aims to provide a vehicle for exploration and transformation. His music, which is heavily inspired by nature and the immensely diverse cultures on this planet, can be characterized as: compelling, deep, and melodious. After a turbulent period fighting the Siberian Wolves and swimming with the Sharks Alexander's life is nowadays more then ever all about the love for music. As a DJ /(CO)Producer he focus on searching and producing the highest quality electronic music maneuvering between bright ambient lines and deep dub Techno chords. Still, Alexander's TV roots haven't left him completely when mixing he likes adding his cinematic touch.

Alexander started his music career as a creative producer at Amsterdam based SoundScape music. Late 2004 Alexander founded his own music company called Ala Kondre, which is specialised in soundscapes/sounddesign for International Channel Broadcasters including award winning Ident TV packages for pan african channel 3A Telesud,ITV, ARD, Pubieke Omroep, TVN (Poland), TRT(Turkey), Rossia national TV, Schweizer Fernsehen and many mores. Alexander also worked as a music supervisor on worldwide advertising campaigns like BMW 5 serie, Sunday Times and Fanta Tropical Splash.
