Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.

Vizual Records presents the first single 'It Iz What It Iz' off the forthcoming full length album of the same name by Joshua Iz featuring vocals by Diz, Joshua Iz's sometimes dj partner and collaborator.

Marking the first time this duo has worked on an original vocal track since 2005's 'Magnificent', 'It Iz What It Iz' is a smooth, sexy, midtempo, electronic affair with definite sing along appeal that will have you humming the super-catchy chorus again and again after your first listen. Diz's signature velvet vocal style is perfectly suited to this enigmatic song about the mysteries of the universe and the importance of the moment.

Complimenting the seductive vocals is a thoroughly modern piece of musical bliss with a prominent arpeggiator line, sweeping synths, sweet harmonies, percussive breakdowns and a deep rolling bassline.

Is it soul, funk, electronica, broken beat, r&amp;b? Probably all of these combined to create something else entirely.

For the remixes, aside from the other new mixes from Joshua Iz, we've commissioned some top A-list talent: Russ Gabriel and JT Donaldson.

Normally known for his more electronic/techno tracks, Russ Gabriel delivers an incredible deep house monster, (the 'Russ Gabriel House Mix') with killer percussion, uplifting strings, sultry keys and a bassline that drops like there is no tomorrow.

The Russ Gabriel 80's Mix delves into more electronic grooves with super-cool retro sounding syncopated keys, reminiscent of early Metro Area but with dope vocals.

Russ Gabriel's DJ Tool is like a missing dub off of a Prescription record with a stepping bass, hot vocal snippets and left raw enough to really work as a mix tool. Yes please.

As C++, one of his many alter-egos, Joshua goes tech for a driving peak-time dancefloor killer. Deep, dubby, electronic techno-house with a full vocal, vocal dub and dub for proper club action.

The Joshua Iz Vizual Dub Mix has been making the rounds on promo since just before Miami this year and finally gets a full release here. Using just a tiny bit of Diz's vocals, this mix is a unique blend of Detroit keys, jacky beats, spaced-out percussive noise and lush strings that will work in a wide variety of house or techier sets.

JT Donaldson rounds out the package with always hot Tilla drums, a quirky disco-esque bassline, sweet harmonizing electro keys and a unique arrangement that brings a whole new vibe to the track. Somewhere between nu disco and house, this mix paves the road to a new musical future, with JT driving the bus.

If Galaxy Lane’s first EP didn’t send the portals of time and space upside down, then the second EP will throw you down a vortex of hypnotic grooves juxtaposed with eerily erratic rhythms built in outer space. The first of two EP’s to be trusted in the hands of Lone Romantic, ‘Night’ and ‘Later That Night’ will explore the concept of capturing moments in time. Maybe Galaxy Lane can best summarise... “I want people to really feel the mistakes in this music, the dirt, the rough and raw approach, the ‘sitting on the floor surrounded by wires at 3am messing with synths’ approach. That to me is the magic of this music, the interaction of man and machine, to hear the nuances, the tweaking of knobs and pushes of faders. I think we have lost that somewhat with digital technology, and have lost a lot of feeling in the process.

‘Night’ will propel the listener into ethereal textures layered over rough and raw beats, as outlined on opening track ‘Deep Space Nine’. Solitary Dancer explore the power of unity through dance on new EP ‘Reveries Of A Solitary Dancer’

In honour of Adrian Piper and her vital work aiding Black communities, a portion of the EP’s proceeds will go to the Adrian Piper Research Archive Foundation

After having appeared on Midland’s, Graded, the ever-prolific Dark Entries as well as Optimo Trax, Solitary Dancer once again take focus on their own label, Private Possessions. Following last year’s ‘Rites of Passage’ LP, they emerge from two years of album-dedicated studio time, returning to the floor with three cuts of unabashed, hands-in-the-air optimism via ‘Reveries Of A Solitary Dancer’ EP.

Wrapped in breakbeat etherealism, the EP is inspired by an article of the same name from Artforum’s David Velasco, in which he details the legacy of artist Adrian Piper and her extensive body of work, most notably in the field of dance. Velasco reveals Piper’s desire to “transform the mechanisms that divide people into groups”, highlighting her belief in dance spaces as conduits for reunification during times of segregation.
