I can't seem to find much info on this track. All I remember is that I was asked to do a remix back around 2002-2003 (I believe it was for Marc Mitchell, but I don't recall for sure). It was a very busy couple of years for music production and I have a terrible terrible memory. 
Anyway, apparently this was going to go on the last release before Hooj Choons closed their doors. I also don't remember who the original artist was, but I wound up taking the glitchy vocal and a portion of one of the pads and completely wrote a new dance track around it. 
I DO recall that the track did pretty well with few DJs. Sandra Collins was considering using it on a CD mix at one point and I also received a personal email from Dave Dresden (of Gabriel & Dresden) telling me how much he enjoyed the tune and how well it went over at a party he played. Anyway, sadly, Hooj wound up closing their doors before it was ever released and I don't think it was ever really heard...well, at least in it's original form. 
Fast forward about 4 years when I was writing my first chillout/trip hop album. I wound up taking all my original instrumentation out of the track and rewriting it as a mellow tune and included it on my debut album. Take a guess as to what song it became.  -Joey

I just found this lost demo. This was the first draft of the song that later became Untouchable. This was the version I sent over to Vi Flaten to see if it was something she'd like to contribute vocals. You can hear my original guitar part that she later turned into her vocal melody.

For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

Vous êtes-vous déjà allongé dans l'herbe, les bras étendus, face à un ciel bien noir ? 
Au bout d'un moment vous avez l'impression de vous trouver collé au flanc d'un énorme vaisseau traversant les vastes étendues du vide. 
Seules de lointaines étoiles scintillantes remplissent l'horizon de ce bref voyage dans l'éternité. Le bruit interne du moteur comme fond sonore permanent.
D'aucuns pourraient y voir une scène maritime. Je souscris à une convergence d'état d'esprit pour le voyageur. Pierre Hadot évoquait la notion de "sentiment océanique". Peut-être s'agit-il simplement du reflet des lumières du ciel sur l'océan. 
Mais où commence le ciel ?

GAR concludes this release with the Symphonic Remix which is perfect treat for our core dark enthusiasts as a more deep and punchy dark bassline erupts and sparkles with a majestic drumcode alongside shuffling hihats. He really propels the dark-force pads into a tenacious, yet compelling act based on fierly pluck and the vocal pads painting a more time travel portrait. 
The second interpretation from ingenious Serge Landar brings out more smooth classic dark progressive elements to further plunge into vigor yet enticing lush pads and augmented synth to perfect use making you lose yourself in the mesmeric groove and sounds.

Growing up, he was influenced by 80’s British pop like Depeche Mode and New Order; while you can hear the melodic elements of their work in his, he’s gone in a whole different direction with this new chillout release. He thinks like a great cinematographer, with moving melodic lines and layers of innovative sounds presenting a vivid story. Sometimes the songs sound like a movie soundtrack.

Joey comes from a long line of professional musicians including aunts and uncles who played for everything from symphonies to commercial jingles. He’s been writing music since he was thirteen and for the past twenty, he’s produced electronic music, starting with an old Mac Plus and a few old analog keyboards and an 8-bit sampler. For nine years he recorded dance tracks under the name Dream Traveler. One of his songs,” Time,” appeared on Paul Oakenfold’s Transport CD, one of the highest selling dance compilations of all time.

In 2006 he switched direction and started using his real name. “I wanted a more personal connection to the listener and the only name I could put on it was my own. Band names tend to mask the artist’s identity. There’s nothing more intrinsic than putting your real name on an album, and there’s nothing more personal than writing the most emotional music you can to express to others who you really are.” His goal was to eliminate boundaries and write emotionally charged, melodic music. He even self-released his first album on his own record label to avoid any outside influence.

His music has been used on TV shows like Steven Seagal: Lawman, History Detectives, and Earth 2100: ABC Special Report. Two of his songs, “Behold” and “Being Around You,” were included on Nick Warren’s Global Underground – Paris compilation.

His earlier release, Mellowdrama, topped downtempo and chillout radio charts and sold record numbers over the past four years. Before that, as Dream Traveler, he released numerous dance singles and remixes that became dance floor favorites, played by DJs including John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, and Scott Stubbs.

Joey continues to produce electronic music for Delicate Recordings and has just released a new remix package entitled Everything Is Alright.
