To eat and breathe music is a cliché, but there are a special few who wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning to write down ideas for songs and beats on a special notepad by the side of their bed. Joey Who is undoubtedly one of them. Born in West Virginia in 1988, Joey Who, grew up surrounded by Gospel, Jazz, and later
 hiphop, incorporating various types of music and styles into his own unique blend of Southern club, personal, and socially conscious hiphop music. Although politics and social issues are a noticeable theme that runs throughout his music, his own personal trials remain his greatest focus. Thoughtful rather than preachy, he seeks to relay his life as a microcosm for what many experience on a day-to-day basis, giving his listeners a common ground for them to relate to.
