AEON is a label that’s really in a rich vein of form. Following on from the success of Jenia Tarsol’s recent ‘Strom’ EP, which found it’s way into a myriad of tastemakers boxes, they welcome French man of the moment, Darlyn Vlys for a stunning EP.
The title track Traca y Pólvora is a powerful, melodic masterpiece. A driving, dynamic groove underpins an irresistible bass line anointed with, vocodered vocal snippets and huge emotional pads for an almost trancelike euphoric journey. Serpentine is similarly exciting, but darker in it’s approach. A relentless bass line is main feature here, with a broken beat just adding to the drama and sinister vocals complete the vibe with devastating effect.
Remix duties are fulfilled by Cooper Saver, with his first outing on the label, and label stalwarts Speaking Minds and Amarcord. Cooper Saver has been in fine form of late. His recent release, 'The Search' on Permanent Vacation was huge and is still being hammered in the clubs. Here he takes on Traca y Pólvora with a stunning remix. A slightly lighter take on the original with an easy groove and a moving bass line that makes this the perfect end of the night track.  Meanwhile, Speaking Minds and Amarcord take on Serpentine for their ‘Club Tool Mix’. Their approach is a dark affair, with linear moody elements throughout which takes the track into peak time ‘strobe and smoke’ territory.
A powerful and impressive package throughout here and yet another stamp of quality from a fine label. File this under Big Room Moments!

Six months after the first volume, not for profit label Sinchi, which donates all proceeds to support the preservation of indigenous culture, follows up with the second edition of their Altered States compilation.

'Altered States vol.1' was supported by a great cast of DJs, from Andrew Weatherall and Jennifer Cardini to Perel, Horsemeat Disco, Red Axes, Emperor Machine, Ewan Pearson and many others. This second chapter looks set to get dance music's eclectic trendsetters equally excited with it's fusion of indie dance, electro, leftfield techno/disco and more.

This time featuring Kincaid (Joined by Cee Cee Carter), Tassilo Vanhöfen, Carolain Luf, Heidenreich, Safety Last and Alex Aguayo.

The latter, who hails from Mexico has already featured on Nein and Wonder Stories and now serves up a scintillating journey through wiry disco synths & cosmic arps that are edgy and futuristic.

This is an essential collection of this well-minded label's broad array of sounds from red hot producers all over the world.

Hi there, this is the already third installment of the Familiar Faces anthology. For those who missed the first two: all the contributors to this fine selection of tunes are whether label residents who already provided their fair share to its backcatalogue or friends and affiliates, the Riotvan family hooked up with in one way or another (pun intended, by the way. Looking at you, New Hook). The connecting link being a certain like-mindedness in mentality and sonic expression, once again shaping this compilation up to the utmost current status update of what is going on in the Riotvan world.

And for a kick-off there's even some sort of premiere ushering things in with Reznik & Mikesh's opening tune Calumet. Both dudes are far from being strangers to the label, but teaming up and handing in this ferocious Acid stronghold of a tune, after they introduced themselves just recently with a Telepopmusik-remix, puts themself out there as a force to be reckoned with.     

Then there's Llewellyn, Riotvan mainstay and one of the focal artists when it comes to NeoDisco done the smart way. His new track Falling Apart definitely is no exception to the rule - delightful arpeggios, peculiar vocal-parts and one hell of a catchy synth-hook, engaging the time warp right back to the 80's.
It's no big secret that Jennifer Touch has a certain knack for that era, too. Her Hollow Flake gives us a foretaste of her debut album that will be out in April on Fat Cat Records and checks the listener in on another cruise through bleak emotive waters, building on a stomach punching beat and rough acidlines, graced by her sometimes distant, sometimes heartwarming chant.

Mexican friends Zombies In Miami have been playing on Riotvan nights already and now they leave their mark within the release records as well with Soleil, a soulful peaktime gem full of gloomy deepness.

Then there is the Zombie's compatriot Paulor with a hyper-organic sounding Letter To Futura that's shaped out of e-guitar and bass, Postpunk-emulating drums and percussion and an even Krautrock-reminiscing, trippy jam-aesthetic.

Speaking of Postpunk, closing things off are New Hook with their haunting and forceful O T - a cold sounding, yet fiercely intoned social criticism with unmistakable nods towards Malaria or Die Tödliche Doris, yet presented with an urgency that sets them apart from any formal retro-self-sufficiency.

After an impressive piece by Croatian producer Time To Sleep, it's YAME to follow the steps, musically as well as verbally, because after Lungo Mare comes To The Sea. The artist duo YAME, consisting of Alexandr Seletsky and Victor Kiriyakidi, delivers a track that brims with musical finesse and  edginess as if their inspirations Yello and Kraftwerk shook hands and added a driving raw bass line.  To the Sea has it all an Indie vibe, a disco-ish tone and foremost a catchy synth-line, which is added   edited and unedited vocals that underline either one of the aforementioned features and continue the impressive selection of music the label releases.

As soon as we realized just how serious the COVID19 situation was, all of us here at AEON Towers felt strongly that we must try to do something to help.

The virus had put an end to all live events so putting on an AEON party for charity wasn’t an option. With that in mind we felt we should do something around the label. It was also important to us to involve our AEON family too which is why the obvious answer was to open up some of our catalogue by way of a remix competition, with the winning remixes being released and all the profit being donated to the WHO COVID19 Response Fund.

We were mind blown and humbled by, not only the number of remixes that were submitted, but also the high quality of the music. It made choosing the best ones a very difficult task. We think we chose the best ones though, and we will release the results on July 3rd via Bandcamp only.

To those of you who can afford it, please dig deep and help us raise some money for a very good cause!

A special thanks goes to everyone who worked for free on this project permitting us to collect every cent only for charity!

Londoner Jac The Disco returns to his co-run label Spin On This to deliver his second EP, Manglik, which comes with two original tracks as well as remix works from Eric Duncan and Juan MacLean. The latter has recently had EPs on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant imprint and Will Saul's Aus Music, a track on the latest Motordiscs various artists compilation and is going to release a couple of well-selected remixes, one of these is his take on Jac The Disco's track Goddess, which the New Yorker turns to a divine Disco driven dance floor-designed piece. Not only driven by a lush bass line it's Juan MacLeans array of synths the smoothly implemented glitches and the reluctant Acid-sounds, the cosmic and spaced-out vibe that make his approach to the track a pleasant experience for a wild (home)floor blast.

'Last March we’ve been lucky to have him featured on Lost Tapes Vol. 3 (Pt. I) with his ‘Computer Controlled Drum Rhythm’. Now Jepe will finally release his first EP on AEON!

The Berlin-based Portuguese producer and DJ has created an uplifting yet nostalgic EP including three originals and a remix by Johannes Albert. The Restless Soul EP began to shape during last spring, as Jepe was roaming between enjoying sunsets on Kreuzberg’s Admiralbrücke and the white sandy beach of his hometown, Aveiro.
 
The first track ‘Congo Bongo Acid’ is an, at times, trippy combination of 80s inspired synths and an electro drumatronic Congo pattern. Following the opening track, ‘Reasonable Doubts’ feels a bit more sunny thanks to a combination of luminous synth arrangements. However, some parts of the song make you reasonably doubt the truthfulness of the ecstatic melodies. Lastly, ‘Restless Soul’ reflects just that with its urgent bassline that leaves hardly any time to breathe. With some delirious keys embracing you, you find yourself listening to disco disguised as house, driving your convertible on a Los Angeles Highway.

To complete The Restless Soul EP, AEON invited Johannes Albert to remix the record’s title track. The Berlin-based honcho of Frank Music is never shy to add a soothing melodic touch to the mix, taking ‘Restless Soul’ on an acid-driven tour to the dancefloor. 

Altogether, a versatile set of tracks delivered by the forward-thinking German label.'
