An old song I made with a simple DAW (used as MIDI recorder) and hardware synthesizers (Roland D-10, Yamaha SY-77and Alesis QS8 as far as I can remember).
Played live, mixed and directly recorded. No post recording or editing.

As a hobby musician I started in the late 90's playing and composing electronic music.  I'm mainly influenced by innovators of electronic music like Tangerine Dream,  Michael Garrison (RIP), Vangelis (RIP), and PERU. 

In my (MIDI)studio I'm using several hardware synthesizers (like QS8, AN1x, SY-35, SY-77, Karma, K4r, K5000r, Pulse, A-station) and since early 2018 with VST plugins (mainly NI Komplete and RP eXplorer) in Cubase.

Born and raised in Eindhoven and proud owner of my own studio in Arnhem since 2024, I am Ricardo van Steen, a passionate music producer with a deep love for film music, new age and electronic sounds. My musical journey began in an unexpected place: the virtual world of Minecraft. Around age 15, I was hooked on this game and thought, “If you can create this with the computer, I want to!”

The real spark, however, was sparked by my mother's new boyfriend, himself a producer and friends with musician and record executive Ron Boots. After several of Ron's events in Oirschot and visits to his studio, I knew this was my path. The conversations with Ron and other musicians, including sound engineers from Tangerine Dream and Rob Papen, were tremendously inspiring. I also wanted a studio like that and to create that magic.

After a Tangerine Dream concert in the Enck in Oirschot, I was completely sold; I knew this was what I wanted to do. The in-depth conversations about vintage and analog synthesizers inspired me enormously. From the age of sixteen I started producing music seriously, which eventually led to the creation of The Blue Cats Studios. My first analog synthesizer was a Korg Monopoly, and since then the studio has only expanded. Here I focus primarily on creating compelling soundtracks for movies, soothing new age compositions and atmospheric music for use in games and other media.

My goal is to take listeners on an aural journey, using a wide range of synthesizers, samples and instruments to create unique and memorable soundscapes. I invite you to explore my SoundCloud and immerse yourself in the world of The Blue Cats Studios.

CHRIS GATE is a German Composer & Producer and works since 1996 with focus on Electronic Music. He is also part of the VORTEX ELEMENTS Project.

HISTORY: First he started with the Collaboration-Project NOISE CONSTRUCTION in 1996 and got the chance to release two tracks in 1998 on Millennium-Storm Records (Hannover/Germany) and its first Techno-Trance Sampler. But unfortunately the distribution of the disc failed and the label decided to discontinue its work. 
To get some new experience, a partnership of NOISE CONSTRUCTION with CJ MILLER as an upcoming DJ was a nice chance to get a new focus on straight Club sounds. 
The work of Noise Construction was discontinued at the beginning of 1999 and CHRIS GATE began to focus on his Solo-Project.
In 2003 he founded the collaboration project VORTEX ELEMENTS together with Sonic Chain, which can be discovered on Soundcloud. After some years his musical view changed from Club & Trance-Style to more classical Electronic Music Style.
During the time, he did some REMIXES for SNAP & BLANK & JONES (Remix-contests) and some of his own tracks as well.
Actually it´s the intention of CHRIS GATE to get some new Contacts , to improve the musical artwork and getting in contact with people who like his tracks.
