Firas Waze founded the Street Tracks label back in 2012 and has been instrumental in curating the ever-popular house & electronic dance music label for nigh on ten years now. On his first release for the label under his Waze moniker, his house music chops are bared on the eminently funky ‘Bowery’.

As one half of Waze & Odyssey, Firas Waze has been at the vanguard of the UK house scene for many years, and his solo ventures are aplenty, with remix work and releases under various pseudonyms for the likes of Shall Not Fade, Last Night On Earth, Running Back and Hot Haus Records.

‘Bowery’ is a jostling and energetic house jam, smouldering with plump DX bass, shuffling 909 drum patterns and uncomplicated orchestral stabs and deft melodies, and a perfect debut from the seasoned producer on his own label.

INCOMING :  Agle - About Last Night(Original Mix) #RitmoFatale

Vilnius/Basel-based DJ and producer Domas Bojarciukas aka Bojarchük is back to Mexican imprint Bonkers Records. After being featured on the volume 1 of the compilation “Oddness”, now the Lithuanian artist returns to present a full showcase of his capabilities through the four robust cuts of his “Ugne” EP. To complete the party, two compelling remixes made with love by John Patter and Aurum Miles. Premiered here, the former’s ace contribution to the release.

John Patter needs no introduction amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco community. The originals & collaborations of the also rising Lithuanian producer can be found on some of the most interesting labels of the scene like, for instance, Ninefont, Shara Music, Rotten City Files, Melómana, and now Bonkers.

His interpretation of the opening title may have kept the noisy and fussy atmosphere of the original, but ripped off its Middle East-ish aura, replacing it with a more EBM/Industrial mood. The absurdly fat bassline – introduced at the very beginning of the track –, the weird percussive elements, and the arpeggiated synth layers show the credentials of JP’s work.

“Ugne”, which means "fire" in Lithuanian, is a more than suitable name for Bojarchük’s latest endeavour. Kudos!

My guest this week is The Loneliest Hunk, a DJ and remix artist from New Zealand who I have been following for a while. He has a monthly mix series called “Recluse Radio”  combining eclectic vibes of Disco, Funk, Electronica & Indie Dance. ** THE LONELIEST HUNK BIO **
I spent 14 years in London and then 7 years in Ibiza before returning home to NZ so have soaked up a lot of different musical vibes from both of those places. I started out as a guitarist in a band.

Around that time I also bought some decks and learnt how to mix records for house parties. I was instantly hooked. Being able to play with the energy in the room and it being a different experience every time was really exciting. 

I’ve been playing and making music pretty much my whole life across a range of genres. The musical style of The Loneliest Hunk reflects a lot of that. 

A lot of older tracks have already been reworked these days so it’s a very happy day when you find an untouched gem that you can rework into your own style.
