SEXY SMOOTH Playful BOUNCY- I love this set

The Quetzal is a symbol of freedom in Mayan culture and they can not be bred or held in captivity, a Quetzal will usually kill itself after being captured rather than spend its life unable to fly and move freely trapped in a cage.

Big shout out to the Psycristrance, Eudaimonia and Acid Carpentry Crews for creating such an uncaged wonderful party and setting to play, dance and be free in.

• The Break Down •

Elements Festival 2021 was a special fucking experience that I'll cherish forever. Extremely grateful for Trent Stewart for giving me the opportunity to play at this wonderful gathering for my second year in a row. This one topped the last, purely because I had my lovely girlfriend (who is an absolute rave-a-holic) having the time of her life with me, my best friend Mark, and his partner Jess ripping it up beside me, and all my other close mates ride the wonderful doofy journey with me. Not to mention, ELF21 had really leveled up on all fronts, lifting their production game, going above and beyond to cater to all our needs and desires with elite hospitality to boot. 

Lots to be said about the Friday night at Elements. A night where I was scheduled to play on the Love Camp Stage with my homies Dark Design, Bongani and CAIN. From my end, it's a long story short, there was a slight stage mis-hap prior to our Friday night session. I got waaaay too lit, deleted a whole bottle of Fireball amongst other "things". My memory of this set is genuinely blurry AF. Thank god for Jurassic Melbourne for capturing my whole set on video which re-jigged my memory bank, as well as Benjamin Cross, who tells this Elements Festival tale better than anyone could ever describe it through written word. Ben has quickly become a blood brother of mine and was instrumental in quickly turning my 2021 into being better than i expected. Thank you Ben, for re-living the events of the night through a well-written little story:

" In the 3 months leading up to Elements, Jed and I battled against the pandemic, playing musical iso chairs at work so we didn’t contract the "spicy cough" and not meet the entry requirements to enter QLD. We were in the trenches sorting out all sorts of problems, voluntarily deciding, fuck this noise, let's don our facemarks. Literally everybody around us got COVID, but us. The only thing that mattered to us was making it to that dusty Elements dance floor.

And finally after all that, it’s Friday night at the Love Camp Stage, and the sound system had blown out, complete failure. Khalas, forget about it. The stage was shut and we had to wait for a replacement to come in from Brisbane, all the acts playing that night were devastated, cancelling everyone was very much on the cards.

And then a miracle from the Doof Gods. A van rolls in with a phat new dbTechnologies rig, Dark Design is back on dropping bangers, followed by Jedidiah.

After all of that drama, effort and heartache, Jed steps up into the booth and I’m right there, side by side with him. We have been talking about this moment for months at work. We finally FUCKING MADE IT.

This was our moment.

And HOLY FUCK 🥵 Tits were jacked. Balls to the floor. It was stomping season.

If your eyes have made it down this far, I apologise for the million words hahaha. Really hoping you guys dig this set as much as I remember having fun whilst playing it to a PACKED Love Camp dance-floor. This set was completely improvised as I do not believe in planning festival sets track-for-track. So yeah, here is my little slice of Elements Festival 2021 through the music that I froth, for the people that I love, that rip it up on doofy dance-floors that I belong to.

Born in the Australian Blue Mountains & raised along the East coast, it was inevitable that Johan would be drawn to the sound of the Australian bush. 

Upon returning to his ancestral home of South Africa as a teenager, his unique musical resonance began to take form.

Drawing inspiration from, yet not tethered to, Australia's progressive theatrical organic psychedelic noises, South Africa's House music and psychedelic trance community and the natural melodious down-tempo echoes emanating from festivals around the world.
