The Mexican duo is all about low-tempo, dark disco and anxious lyrics, mixing guitars, synthesizers, and voodoo rhythms. Together they create a psychedelic journey into haunted vocals, hypnotic percussion landscapes, oriental dreams, with an avant-garde rock flavor.

Den 25:e mars var det dags igen att ta hissarna upp i Örebro´s landmärke Svampen för att dansa loss till toner från den elektroniska musikens hårdare genrer. Det maffiga ljudet stod Smedjan för under kvällen, med sin bastanta rigg från D&B Audiotechniks nya A- och V-serie. Det satte fart på både basen och alla ravers på dansgolvet.

Jag fick äran att värma upp dansgolvet med huvudsaklig inriktning på Hard Trance. Men det svävar åt flera olika håll under de 90 minuterna, där jag börjar med Hard Trance men snabbt kommer in på Early Hardstyle och Reverse Bass, för att återgå till Hard Trance och sen under den sista halvtimmen spåra ur mot Early Hard Techno, Acid Techno och nyare Hard Techno. Det blir en salig blandning med både nytt och gammalt, där de äldsta låtarna är från 2001 och de nyaste har släppts så sent som samma månad som eventet blev av. 

Det var tur att jag inledde kvällen för Rocco, Toxin och Nenad satte ribban vääääldigt högt efter mig. Riktigt grymma DJs! 👏

Tyvärr sprakar det till om ljudkortet i slutet vilket är lite irriterande, men inte så mycket att göra något åt. 
Jag hoppas att det smakar!

Den 13:e februari förlorade jag min lurvige bästis Skatan, som varit vid min sida ända sedan hon var 12 veckor gammal sommaren 2007. Därför tillägnar jag den här mixen till henne. Vi ses igen ❤️

Scalameriya_-_VoidCast_(April2023)_[V+1P001]

Oblako Maranta, the tribal techno and weird disco duo formed by Russian producer Radial Gaze and Italian A-Tweed, are set to make their debut on the label with their EP, ‘Maranta Kicks’. The EP consists of three original tracks and a powerful percussive remix by German poet and musician Bryan Kessler.

The duo has already released several tracks in different compilations by Samo Records, Electric Shapes, Playground Records, Rotten City, and many more. With ‘Maranta Kicks’, the duo brings their wild drums, analog synths, odd magic samples, and deep “Maranta” kicks to their first EP.

The opener is “Mongol Triol”, a track with tribal trance-inducing percussion, and deep basses. The synth-artificial jungle takes you on an expedition, gradually revealing a mysterious lead created with a TB 303 while the ethereal voices resonate in the background and keeps the journey alive. The following cut, “Pumas”, is slow, somniferous, and powerful. Resonant and metallic synths play in the background, while the rhythm slowly gains strength to enter the machine's gears. The non-stop percussion adds to the overall effect.

Bryan Kessler's remix follows, a lively and energetic cut. Sharp sounds accelerate the pace, welcomed by a fat and solid bass, playful and resounding percussion, snare rolls, and sedative vocals. The EP closes with ‘Vega’s Glove’, a frenzied and wild track. Melting synths generate the atmosphere, while the drum and bassline take you on a journey through a tunnel of delirium and bottomless pit.

Det var riktigt coolt att få spela och rejva loss på 58 meters höjd, samtidigt som man kunde avnjuta solnedgången över Örebro stad. 
Festen började på Svampens uteterass men den fick avslutas inomhus. Det var tydligen inte alla på norr som uppskattade de goa vibesen och de skönt smattrande basgångarna 😁

Det var riktigt kul att få se både nya ansikten och en del gamla som man inte sett på flera år.
Stämningen var verkligen på topp med en massa glada ravers som stampade loss! ❤️

Tanken var att jag skulle fokusera på Hard Trance, så under settets gång presenterar jag två olika tidsepoker för genren. 90-talets Hard Trance med dess generellt högre tempo blev exkluderad. Det får bli en annan gång.

Allting inleds med 2000-talets tidiga Hard Trance och det är här som jag lägger mest fokus. Det blir en hel del gamla goa bangers från bl.a Cosmic Gate, Megara vs DJ Lee, Public Domain och Yoji Biomehanika. 
Senare i settet river jag av några Hard Trance-låtar från dagens mer "aktuella" tidsepok och dess sound. 
Därtill blir det en del twists, där jag river av lite knorrande Acid, ett par raveklassiker från Drax och Da Hool, Reverse Bass och avslutningsvis Hard Techno 👊

Det här settet hade lite halvt kunnat ingå i Rave Classics-serien. Det är en salig blandning av gammalt och nytt. Den äldsta låten är från 1996 medans den nyaste låten bara är några veckor gammal (vid spelningens tillfälle).

Det här är mitt set från eventet Hard Society 2.0, som ännu en gång hölls 58 meter upp i Svampen, Örebro den 23:e september. Det är ett riktigt bra koncept med en maxad lasershow och fet PA-rigg inne, samtidigt som man har möjligheten att se ut över hela stan om man vill ta en vilopaus ute.

Personligen upplevde jag detta som deras bästa event, hittills. Det var en så galet bra stämning hela kvällen, galet härliga människor och galet bra musik från galet duktiga DJs. 
Sammanfattningsvis ett galet bra arrangemang av Swedish Rave Society Event.

Jag fick äran att värma upp dansgolvet. Tanken först var att jag skulle köra Techno, men till slut bestämde jag mig för att låta settet bli en del i min Rave Classics-serie, där låtvalet är baserat på personliga festminnen och mycket nostalgi. Ta exempelvis Mobys "Why does my heart feel so bad", remixad av Ferry Corsten och Frankie Goes To Hollywoods "The power of love", remixad av Rob Searle. Jag vet inte hur många gånger vi spelade de här låtarna på förfesterna. Sistnämnda låten hade en kompis bränt på en CD-R och tog med till en klubb, där han bad kvällens DJ att spela låten. Han trodde väl att det var originalet som startade i mittpartiet, för jäklar va svettig han blev att finna en övergång samtidigt som alla lämnade dansgolvet...Det var ju inte dags för tryckare riktigt än.

Settet inleder med Trance, går över till Hard Trance och rullar av med Techno. Låtarna är från 1999 till 2006.
Som DJ (i alla fall jag) funderar man alltid lite på hur ens låtval kommer att mottas på dansgolvet, så det värmde rejält i ravegubbens hjärta när så många ravers, även de yngre, verkligen öste järnet från början till slut.
