NEW MIX! A conceptual journey of more than two hours, utilizing music from a kind of techno-trance I've been fascinated by lately. It's new music, taking heavy inspiration from the 90s trance sound - pure and deep.

The mix circles through light and dark, challenge and comfort, fear and joy, the heavens and the earth... It's a world you can dive into with full attention, with you as the protagonist - but it works just as well as a background palette for your social gatherings or daily activities.

The tracks in this genre are long and immersive, and I play a lot of them in full. I've used the vibes and emotions I felt with each track to form a bigger story, painting broad strokes for you to fill in the details with your own experience. In the tracklist you'll not only find the names of the creators of this beautiful music, but also my view of the purpose of each track in the bigger flow.

DEEP TRANCE QUEST 🌐 mixed by Geck-o (February 2024)

"It's a pure form of love." The hardcore artist talks about collecting ephemera from rave zines, working in high fashion and his undying love for the gabber community.

Alberto Guerrini, better known as Gabber Eleganza, has made a name for himself as a hardcore and gabber DJ, as well as a fervid documenter of the culture that surrounds it. Growing up in Italy, he started going to raves at a club called Number One Hardcore before eventually traveling to the Netherlands with his parents' blessing and starting to DJ himself. 

Guerrini's love of hardcore spilled over into a Tumblr blog he started in 2011, a project that aggregated the rave zines, photos and stories he collected from his time spent in the gabber community. The goal of the project, he says in this interview, was to build up anthropological dialogues on the "sonic landscape and aesthetic of the hardcore continuum." The online compendium contains amazing pieces of hardcore ephemera: clippings of Soviet era rave zines, letters ex-ravers sent to the hardcore community from jail and Guerrini's own appendices providing context around the global subculture.

Much of this archival work made its way into a book that Guerrini published with artists Ewen Spencer Mark Leckey called Hardcore Soul, a photography collection that traces the similarities and relationships between hardcore and the UK's Northern Soul movement. He discusses this and more—including his own label, Never Sleep, and his work with the fashion industry and art worlds—in this conversation with Chloe Lula. Listen to the episode in full.

Essential Guide To Superstition Records (1993-1996)

February's podcast is mixed by the Hamburg born and Berlin based: Viscerale (@viscerale_pleasures).

Mixing journeys for your pleasure with focus on harder, faster and experimental Techno.

Born in Hamburg and based in Berlin since 2011, Viscerale has a classical background in piano and found her passion for selecting the right tunes for the right moment since she was young. She discovered the dancefloor in her late teens, but it took her many years to reveal her true passion.

Her first electronic mixtapes appeared around 2015, which led to requests to perform and officially started DJ-ing in clubs in October 2017. She already made her debuts in 11 countries including the US, played for the infamous Party “Herrensauna” (@herrensauna), supporting showcases of the Label “Instruments of Discipline” (@instruments-of-discipline) and is appearing regularly at Berghain´s Säule (@berghain).

Since April 2019, Viscerale belongs to the Label/Agency "Another Name" of the Club Ved Siden Af (@etandetsted) in Copenhagen, the city of her musical inspiration, where she is also holding a residency.

Driven by strong emotions and moved by fast, hypnotic & disturbing sounds, her sets are influenced by melodic, dark, rhythmic and Industrial Techno and usually transform into early 90’s Gabber and Hard Trance. 140 bpm upwards is definitely her comfort zone, always seeking high energy levels in a playful way.

Hi! My name is Johan and this is where I post my various mixes. I've been DJ-ing since 1997 and am Senior Curation Director at DI.FM (www.di.fm).
