Not one to revel too much in the limelight, Johannes Brecht prefers to ply his trade in the shadows - fitting for his oceandeep productions. The Stuttgart native marks his first outing on Steve Bug's inimitable Poker Flat Recordings with an exceptionally atmospheric EP sure to make it's mark with the deeper end of the DJ fraternity. 

'What's About' bumps along with an irresistible groove, incorporating a sweet guitar lick and various backward synths before a sick bass line arrives to lift the track yet further into the ether. It's house music for music lovers, and sure to go over big with discerning dance floors. 

Likewise, the epic 11-minute 'You' develops with a sense of style and restraint often missing in the club, and revolves around beautifully realized synth pads over a crisp, punchy rhythm.

Beatport customer can also pick up the equally impressive and lengthy 'Deep Down', which hints at Brecht's love of Detroit - a left field bomb for the heads.

An act birthed from the island outreaches of Maui, the Hawaiian pairing of DJ/producer Marasco and vocalist Gretchen Rhodes were always going to craft something slightly left of dancefloor centre. While the production arm of the duo comes from a more conventional house and techno background, singer Rhodes has recorded and performed with iconic musical figures such Mick Fleetwood and Steven Tyler. 
Their creation for Bacchetti’s ENDLESS sees the duo deliver ‘Addiction’ a dubby offering, tinted in dusty atmospheric tones and a certain haunting, tension-filled dynamic thanks to Rhodes haunting vocals that masterfully switch between singing, spoken word and breathy whisper over the course of the seven minute cut.
Johannes Brecht takes ‘Addiction’ into decidedly sinister territory, muffling the vocals and introducing impact-heavy bass, dark stabs and an eerie bell melody to create a murky house re-work that’ll stand out from the rest.
Completing the package is Hamburg import Patlac, who pushes the work into more harmonic territory, with velvety synths coating a bed of crisp percussion, before a memorable key pattern adds a delicious hook.

Yes, it is classified as a paradise. In this paradise where a multicultural world meet with psychedelic, Polynesian and American sounds, it generates something really unique. Lemonick is Nicolas Baillie from Switzerland, an up-and-coming producer with a knack for creative rhythmic constructions, especially when it comes to building sharp, propulsive yet refreshing drum tracks. His musical devices of choice are atmospheric grime hybrids polished up by gracefully recontextualized bass-music trademarks from a variety of styles. 

His fourth EP to date obeys a pattern that sets it apart from his previous output and lands him a spot amongst a somewhat new school of artists that adheres to Night Slugs' cult-status melodic aesthetic and functional structure. 

"Flash Street" is a classy addition to this growing niche-turned-scene that we wholeheartedly support and we must say it's refreshing to release some music that shouldn't stand alone because it's part of a bigger picture - a group of artists from all over the world that are following the written and unwritten guidelines of probably the most influential label in recent times.
