The Hundreds San Francisco Celebrates Its 6th Year with a Hieroglyphics Collaboration Capsule and Mixtape

 In commemoration of The Hundreds San Francisco’s 6-year anniversary, The Hundreds reunites with Bay Area hip-hop legends Hieroglyphics for a limited run of three exclusive tees. These tees will be available only at the THSF and www.shophiero.com, starting at 11am, Thursday, March 20, 2014. On the evening of this date, The Hundreds will be hosting a one-night-only event celebrating the store’s anniversary at POST Street.  Exclusively for THSF’s anniversary, a POST X Hieroglyphics mixtape will be available for download on TheHundreds.com and www.hieroglyphics.com mixed by DJ ICEWATER.

 Bobby Hundreds grew up on the esteemed Bay Area collective’s music, and all of the tees include some of his favorite elements from the Hieroglyphics legacy. From a Souls of Mischief lyric from the renowned album 93 ‘til Infinity, to a spin on an OG Del Tha Funkee Homosapien tee that, according to urban hip-hop folklore, is based on a napkin self-portrait Del drew. The Hundreds is thrilled to unite again with the Hiero crew in commemoration of THSF’s 6th year running.

 The Hundreds “Del Face” T-shirt features Del Tha Funkee Homosapien’s iconic self-portrait illustration on the front and a reappropriated The Hundreds X Hieroglyphics bomb logo at the top back. The shirt will be available in three colors.

The “Emcees” tee is emblazoned with the Souls of Mischief lyrics “Emcees Should Know Their Limitations” from their legendary 93 ‘til Infinity album. The collaborative bomb logo will be at the top back with “Souls of Mischief” stamped under. The shirt will be available in three colors.

John, Yan et Jean ont des quotidiens et des parcours professionnels très différents, mais ils arrivent tous les trois à un moment clef de leur vie.
John est un avocat d'affaires sur le point de devenir associé monde dans un grand cabinet. Yan, un petit dealer toujours dans les embrouilles et les galères. Jean, enfin, est un retraité qui vient d'apprendre que ses jours sont comptés. Malgré leurs différences, ces trois antihéros se débattent dans les contradictions de la société de consommation, seuls face à un choix qui met leur conscience et leur intégrité à rude épreuve : écraser les autres ou se laisser écraser.
Sélection naturelle, un roman capitaliste est le récit de leurs destins et de leurs aventures entremêlés, de leurs états d'âme, leurs hésitations, leurs lâchetés et leur humanité. Il les place devant leurs paradoxes, leur égoïsme, leurs espoirs aussi, et pose les deux seules questions qui importent. Peuvent-ils arrêter la machine bien ordonnée qui les broie ? Jusqu'où accepter la compromission dans ce système devenu fou ?

L'AUTEUR

Maître de Conférences à l'Université Aix-Marseille, globe-trotter, écrivain inspiré par Jim Harrison, Philip K. Dick, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, José Saramago ou encore Georges Orwell, Alexandre Grondeau est passionné par les mouvements underground et par la contre-culture. Depuis plus de 15 ans, il est par ailleurs critique musical, spécialiste des musiques jamaïcaines et producteur de musique. Pangée, son premier roman paru en 2012, était une fable philosophique, un roman initiatique, qui interrogeait autant la foi que l'athéisme dans un paradis qui se détraquait. Génération H , son second roman sorti en 2013, était un road trip halluciné traversant les milieux alternatifs dans la France des années 90. Adepte des sujets brûlants et polémiques, il présente cette année Sélection naturelle, un roman capitaliste, une charge littéraire contre la société de consommation.

NOTE DE L'EDITEUR

Après avoir questionné les dérives de la foi et l'athéisme dans son premier roman (Pangée), plongé dans les milieux underground et psychédéliques des années 90 dans un road trip musical et halluciné avec son second roman (Génération H), Alexandre Grondeau nous revient cette année avec une charge littéraire anti-capitaliste sans concession: Sélection naturelle, un roman capitaliste.
La théorie de Darwin selon laquelle « les espèces qui survivent ne sont pas les espèces les plus fortes, ni les plus intelligentes, mais celles qui s'adaptent le mieux aux changements », s'applique-t-elle à l'espèce humaine ? Est-ce le système capitaliste, son rythme effréné et l'oppression exercée par la société de consommation qui ne nous laissent le choix qu'entre se faire écraser, et écraser les autres ? Ou bien ce choix est-il simplement inhérent à la nature humaine ? Telles sont les questions posées par ce récit mêlant trois destins dans un roman noir, jouissif, et amoral.
Le lecteur remarquera par ailleurs que la musique est encore et toujours présente dans l'œuvre de l'auteur. Ainsi une bande son est de nouveau proposée à la fin du roman, permettant d'accompagner sa lecture par les morceaux écoutés par les personnages du livre. Un clip vidéo illustrant l'univers du livre grâce à une création musicale originale de Renegade Sid (ex Spiral Tribe) accompagne également la sortie du roman.
Plus qu'un roman et comme il est maintenant de coutume avec Alexandre Grondeau, Sélection naturelle, un roman capitaliste est une œuvre artistique interdisciplinaire à la croisée de la littérature et de la musique. Une aventure dont personne ne sortira indemne !

Cubículo Records is very proud of its new vinyl featuring another legend from the reggae world. We are talking about Trevor Junior who voiced over a huge Rub-A-Dub Riddim from the French producer B-no, out of the Upfull Posse Crew.

As rub a dub lovers, B-no and his crew Upfull Posse decided in 2013 to organise the return to Europe of a legendary reggae artist from the 80's era, Trevor Junior. After a tour all over Europe and a good connection with him, B-no composed a riddim specially for Trevor to sing with lyrics about love and friendship. A few days before his return to Jamaica, Trevor Junior recorded "People are changing" at B-no's Bunker studio in only one take. Relations with peoples are evaluating for everyone, in every community, all over the world. That is what the tune is about, human feelings.

This release will be on a 12” heavyweight vinyl featuring two tracks, on the A Side we can find the conscious lyrical talent of Trevor Junior over the music “People are Changing” and on the flip side you can find the riddim version.

Vinyl will be released on November 2014.
