A little mix to introduce myself to those who have never experienced myself as a DJ

Krafty - Hard Elements Launch Mix Feb 2024

Krafty - I'm a 45 years old DJ from Bolsover, near Chesterfield, UK. I have always had music in my life, as my parents love music especially my dad who always had his vinyl collection on proud display ranging from the very first 12" ever pressed (Ramones - shenna is a punk rocker) right through to early house and rave, which is were my obsession with music came from, and I say obsession because I am obsessed! I couldn't miss top of the pops or listening to the official chart show on the radio and even chart show tv on a saturday morning, which in turn started my own music collection.

It wasn't until I was 15 when my parents gave me and my brother the amazing present of a mobile disco that DJ'ing really started for me, the disco had a double gerrard console turntable system with built in amp and this is were I learnt to mix. At first it was just cut and chopping because the gerrards didn't have any pitch control but this didn't stop me learning myself to beat match I came up with a way of controlling the platter speed with my finger has the turntables where belt drive so I was able to manipulate the speed quite easily and at this point I was playing at under 18's raves and parties, I always remember my first set to a dedicated crowd, It was 1996 and I was playing a Happy Hardcore set when I finished my set and left the DJ booth it was like I had instantly become a superstar! Everyone was telling me how amazing the set was and asking if I was going back on that same night, what a feeling that was and I knew from that point I wanted more. A year later I was able to upgrade my turntables to pitchable ones and within 15 minutes I was mixing like never before and I have never tired of being a DJ and the feeling of having the crowd love every beat!

I am not a DJ who can only play one style of dance music, I play styles ranging from electro/house to classic trance/trance to hardcore/old skool. I love nothing better than performing behind the decks whether it be out and about or in my own home making a mix disc, it's just the hands on approach of manipulating music and beats that really satisfies me along with putting a smile on the end listeners face and just for them to appreciate the music and mix. Hiya peeps.
Well it all started around 17 years ago when i listened to my first ever dizstruxshon tape in my bedroom, ive always loved a underground type of sound especially from dj's including the likes of dj's  Paul o, Kenny sharp, M-zone, Pilgrim, oo7 and mcs such as Marcus, Jd walker, Natz ,Ell, Domer ,and Space,still listening nowadays to events such as the mighty uprising, dizstruxshon (sadly missed) , phuture beatz, fantasy island...with some great  dj's and mc's around today....just to name a few ; Vorny , Roze, Outforce, Joey riot, Kurt , Mc's Synergy Staffford, Clarkee, Rafta n Eruption (Talisman) and from that day always dreampt of bein a dj or mc, so now 17 years on i realise im absolutly shocking at mc'in so  im trying my hand at the cdj .thanks for looking me up and i appreciate any comments/likes/share..
