Cezar is the visionary founder of Understand, a trailblazing label renowned for pushing the boundaries of electronic music. Under his guidance, Understand has become synonymous with innovation, showcasing cutting-edge artists and pioneering the evolution of techno and experimental sounds. Through Understand, he curates and releases cutting-edge electronic music, showcasing the talents of emerging and established artists alike.

A classically trained musician and long-time face of Soho's legendary Black Market Records, she's known for high-octane DJ sets and razor-sharp productions, her intense percussive blend of house and techno evokes chaos on any dancefloor. 

From Printworks to Amnesia, fabric to Warehouse Project, Koko to Watergate, Hilit commands the world’s most esteemed clubs and festivals, supporting the likes of Floorplan & Radio Slave and opening for Carl Cox. 

Her Defected debut hit #1 on Music Week’s Upfront Club Chart, while her releases on Rekids and Bush garnered massive support from Radio 1 as well as Chloe Caillet, Paul Woolford, Tsha, Carl Craig, Skream, Carlita, Radio Slave, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox, Eliza Rose, Saoirse, Maya Jane Coles, Haai, Syreeta, La La & Emerald, to name a few.

Let’s start at the beginning. My dad was a DJ in nightclubs, and I grew up immersed in music of every kind. One of my earliest memories was digging through his CD collection, picking albums based solely on the artwork. That’s how I discovered Conspiracy of One by The Offspring—you know, the one with the flaming skull and crazy colors. That album cracked open my teenage rock phase and pushed me to start playing drums at 15. I ended up playing in rock bands until my early twenties.
That foundation eventually led me to my true home—electronic music.

As a DJ, I see myself as a storyteller. I’m a disciple of Laurent Garnier, in spirit. Every set I play is tailor-made for the night, the space, and most importantly, the crowd. I don’t pre-pack sets—I feel it out live, making every show a one-off journey.
Musically, I orbit around House—with a capital H. From deep and minimal to tech, classic, UK Garage, or even hard house—I love creating sets with variety and edge. I also enjoy slipping in the unexpected, giving people something new to take home with them.
I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to sound. I obsess over acoustics, lighting, and layout, and I apply that same precision to my productions. Everything I create is built for the dance-floor, with a focus on sound design, groove, and that physical, gut-level connection. My latest work lives between House, Power House, and Tech House—music with a mature, distinct tone made to stand the test of time.

Some collabs I’ve loved: working with Moojo on Calamar Records, and more recently a release on AZZUR Music (Meloko’s label) with N-You-Up.
