My name is Scot Kaeff and I'm a bassist, songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, poet (with five published collections at present), safety professional, social critic, voice actor, actor, and aspiring novelist. When playing music recently, though, I've been working under the name Reasons For Moving.  I'm also a former member of Dr. Kevin Holm-Hudson & The Adjuncts, where I played bass and still contribute from time to time.

Reasons For Moving Biography:  Reasons For Moving began as an acoustic duo in 2009 and, through the course of one CD release, Consumption Of The Fittest, and a variety of talented musicians passing through its ranks, has taken form again in 2017 with original member, Scot Kaeff, at the helm. 

Scot began playing bass and writing songs at the tender age of 14, cutting his teeth mainly on heavy metal.  His influences range across a wide expanse of music, but some key elements include Iron Maiden, U2, Manic Street Preachers, Peter Gabriel, Our Lady Peace, Queen, David Bowie, King's X, Genesis, Heather Nova, Kaiser Chiefs, Wolf Alice, The Tragically Hip, The Joy Formidable, Savatage, and Midnight Oil.  Always in original bands, seldom was a cover played, which made gigs somewhat infrequent, but honed the writing to a coruscated edge. Two members of the mid-nineties progressive metal band Scot led, Feelin' Crystal, Tim McNally and Jessica Palmer Banish, also did time in Reasons For Moving and remain active collaborators, along with keyboardist/pianist, Dave Crowe.

Reasons For Moving is a project, first and foremost, dedicated to intelligent, soulful lyrics (Scot has five poetry collections in print, the most recent being Rendering The Impossible, Finishing Line Press, 2014) and grooving, bass-driven rock & roll, sometimes acoustic and wistful, sometimes aggressive and brazen. Only demos are posted currently, but as 2018 continues, look for final products to be posted in their finished forms.

Reasons For Moving...as Mark Strand wrote in his poem, Keeping Things Whole, "We all have reasons for moving. I move to keep things whole." The music, the lyrics, the band are all an attempt to do just that.
