I don't generally find that my songs work with my voice.  I always appear to be writing songs with someone else in mind.  I guess the problem is that they are not as good as songs by Cole Porter or Hoagy Carmichael,  and anyone is going to sound better singing those.

Forbidden

I've been listening to a lot of Cartola recently.  I wrote this tune but couldn't get any words for it.  Then Barbara Browning offered to write some.  Knowing that she speaks Portuguese,  I pushed her in that direction.  I know I'm trampling all over the language, but Barbara gave me some pointers on how to avoid some of the pitfalls,  not all of which I ignored. Big Thanks to Barbara for the help on this,  I think her lyric really makes this song.

Thanks to Iz for some juicy flute.

Incidentally,  this is mixed by me using medieval techniques and a total lack of skill.  If anyone feels moved to do better, I could throw you the stems.
