Will Marshall is a multi-genre violist, violinist, and bass guitarist currently based in New York, NY where he works in both live and studio environments for local, regional, and national artists. With roots in classical, folk, pop, rock, and hip hop, Will’s highly adaptable and desired playing style is a blend of old and new. Along with performing, Will also works as a producer, composer, creative director, and artist. Will’s music career began at age six when he started busking in downtown Houston, TX; almost immediately after picking up the violin. He later studied Instrumental Performance at the University of Louisville and Interdisciplinary Music Studies at Berklee College of Music’s online degree program before moving to New York City in 2017 to pursue a full-time career in music.

Will is currently working as a freelance musician, street performer, producer, and composer while getting settled in New York City and is available for hire worldwide. He has performed, recorded, and shared the stage with artists such as Pink Martini (Latin jazz), Shakina Nayfack (musical theater), Sister Hazel (rock), Hoodstock Records (hip hop/R&B), Rufus Reid (jazz bassist), Chris “Oz” Ferrara (Country/Soul), Brett Dean (violist), Kaija Saariaho (New Music Composer), Paul York (cellist), Too Close to Touch (post-hardcore), For September (indie/rock), Emarosa (post-hardcore), Levi the Poet (spoken word), and various orchestras and string ensembles.

Out of respect for these and other cultures he is constantly researching different traditions with a passion for music which holds within it all the richness of the civilisation from whence it came….
