Murphy’s Bar” is their second release of 2023 after “Try-ing my Best (to get away from you)”, which was rated 5 stars and hailed as “An outrageously sublime single” by Liverpool Sound and Vision.

“If you come out of Central Station in Liverpool you are faced with a row of bars that all have an Irish theme.  You can go into any of these and someone will be play-ing “Whiskey in the Jar” or “Galway Girl” or something similar. Everyone is having a great time. 
I thought I’d have a little fun and write my own Irish themed song. Nothing serious although I had to change a line as I was totally unaware I had included a drink name that some people see as offensive expression. The line I substituted it for is my favourite line of my own songs – it’s the line after “He loved his beer”. 
“Murphy’s Bar” seems to be the song everyone talks about after the shows we do.”

John Jenkins is carving out a path for himself as a renowned singer/songwriter on the UK folk, country, and Americana scene. Jenkins is a master of melody, understated lyrics, and deft chord changes, while his songs have been hailed wherever music is written about.

Jenkins has developed an engaged audience of fans and has established himself as a live touring act, both solo and collaboratively and has supported Chris Difford (Squeeze), Jarrod Dickenson, Robert Vincent (AMAUK Artist of the Year), and Steve Tilson in recent years. 

He recently completed a 12-date UK tour in July 2023 with Oxford’s ‘Pippa Murdie’ (Storm the Palace). 


Jenkins’s latest body of work, the 2023 album ‘Tuebrook’ released very recently has gained the admiration from the likes of Folk Radio UK, Americana UK, Fatea and many more magazines.


The album was so-produced by John Jenkins and Jon Lawton (Sami Yusuf, Two Black Sheep) and mastered by Pete Maher (The Rolling Stones, U2, Patti Smith). It is available on CD and Digital and features the singles “Shadows” and “Christopher Roberts”
